Well he's 21 is looking at his 3rd AFL club and has a 2 year old son. Sounds like he's not someone waits to do anything. Massive chance to be looking to move again in 2 years time in my opinion.

Not sure it is fair to call it his 3rd AFL club. Only played 10 games in 3 years and had others move ahead of him in the pecking order at Hawthorn.

I agree..you don't just start chasing someone because they're suddenly available.
But Anderson has ONE thing we need which is pace.

From memory Anderson has just come back from a knee reco, and had injury issues in 2015 also. Having played only ten games are we in a position to say he'd be a good get for us? On exposed form in the AFL you'd assume he'd be a fringe player at our club also.

Aza I've never heard Jed having a knee reco, he certainly had a shoulder early in 2014 which put a halt to his season and then prior to this got pneumonia on a hunting trip in the preceding preseason. As far as I'm aware he had a full preseason this season gone but just struggled to break into the senior side. He played 15 games this season with Box Hill and 4 with Hawthorn.

Clay Smith's knee sways things in my mind. The chances are Smith will never be the player we thought we'd have, from what I've seen Anderson would be a very handy replacement as a similar inside ball winning bull who does heaps of the defensive stuff and gets his hands dirty. He's at the right age to step straight in next year

It sounded like that to me too. They must like parties so much they want to get the going away party as soon as possible as the introduction party.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Yep a shoulder injury curtailed his 2014 season and he struggled to get a senior game this year which is understandable. His form for Box Hill was patchy but he probably finished the season off pretty well.

Exciting player to watch when he is on but a question mark or two on his consistency.

The 6 draftees from last season and even the two rookies we drafted would indicate that leg speed isn't high on our wish list.
He holds some interest for me but it's more around his potential upside than his pace.

It's his foot skills that I like.

Will he improve our team? IMO, yes.

Doesn't cost us anything in terms of picks/players.

                              It's a bit of a Hawthorn-esque signing.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.
