    Re: AFL targets Essendon Royalty

Come hell or high water, I want blood. I want a spill of anyone who contributes to this sort of behaviour and anyone who promotes an environment where conflict of interest and market value is allowed to take precedence over duty of care.

If it hurts us in the long run, so be it.

Eddies comments just remind you how deluded the big clubs are in their sense of entitlement. Play a level fixture, even TV exposure and fair for all stadium deals and you would have alot less need to put your hands in your pockets for the smaller clubs.

It is a self fulfilling cycle.

Alot of people are now openly talking about how good the Bulldogs are to watch. Hopefully our good onfield form will translate into more prime time games and the associated benefits.

I would also like some lateral thinking in the punishments. I think it will be a sickening sight to see the Anzac spirit invoked next year and the Dons granted another guaranteed sellout crowd when we know the lengths this club was prepared to go to. It won't happen, I guess, but wouldn't it be great (and just) to see them humiliated by having this honor stripped from them.

I was thinking they should lose both ANZAC Day, Dreamtime at the G and also lose Friday and Saturday night prime time exposure for a couple of years.

This is a club that has taken advantage of the privellages it has enjoyed and seriously exposed the competition to loss of reputation and loss of revenue - which are the two key elements on which the competition builds itself - and as such they should be placed at the back of the queue.
            TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Latest Channel 7 Mark Stevens at 3 qtr time Carl v Ess: James Hird on Monday to accept a 12 month ban and comeback in 2015. Essendon also expected to lose points.

And because of Hird falling on his own sword, the sanctions on the club could be watered down

That would be typical of the afl.
I will never see #16 the same!!

That would be a very poor resolution. I hope Stevo has this wrong

Don't think they will play finals and will most likely you would think lose draft picks. I'm sure they'll speak to Stevo again when the game finishes about this latest development.

If they lose points as you have just stated, of course they won't play finals.
They will will just ship off all the players for their end of season operations a couple of weeks earlier than they otherwise would.

The must lose draft picks but most importantly a 12 month ban on Hird is an unacceptable punishment.
I'll be PO'd with the club Presidents if they accept this.

If he does get a 12 month ban then he would in his mind be feeling somewhat relieved that his not banned for life.

Sounds like they're going to be slapped with the wet lettuce leaf we all expected. Stevo also reported that Essendon are likely to leave the position open for Hird to return to in 12 months.

Hird really needs to take a good hard look at himself for what he has done. He just doesn't want to accept responsibility.

As much as I love the club, the competition we are apart of just stinks.
I'm sick to death of these brokered deals.

They only people are paying a high price for stupidity are the fans that buy food at the grounds.
Anyone else has a get out of jail free card.

A couple of my Essendon mates are actually laughing at this. They jokingly said that because they have zero points the AFL might gift them the 1st pick in the draft for the stress the fans have endured.

My brother a Collingwood supporter has suggested that we form a breakaway league because he too is fed up with it as I would say all supporters of AFL clubs.
