This is a worry to me:
The 24-year-old has the rare congenital condition called bipartite patella, which involves a false joint that sits within his kneecap bone.
Chris Bell, Bulldogs Head of Sports Medicine, said surgery had been deemed the best way to address the issue after a lack of improvement over the pre-season.
“This injury has not caused Cody any concerns across his career until he received some direct impact on it during a pre-season training session,” Bell said.
“Conservative management has failed to improve Cody’s symptoms, meaning surgery has become the best option.
“With this being a very rare presentation, the Club has consulted multiple specialist opinions, with the decision to surgically stabilise the joint within the kneecap the most viable option that will see Cody return to football in the second half of season 2025.
“A return to play plan will be finalised in coming weeks, with Cody set to miss the next three months.”FFC: Established 1883

Yeah this is turning into a bit of a shit show, Cody was a big part of the reason I wasn’t overly concerned about losing Marra but it’s starting to pile up. Crossley looking like a lock with Tim spending more time forward now would think.👍 1Comment

Different issues but the injury to Cody is a concern to me in the same way Cooney’s knee really hampered him afterwards. Hope he is ok.Time and Tide Waits For No ManComment

I mean these are long term injuries to critical players in positions we have basically zero depth in.
Yes it will mean others get an opportunity to show us they aren't worthy of delisting but it's hardly promising for a finals tilt.Comment

We might already be out of contention by the time these guys come back.

obviously the other issue is Jamarra. Who knows when and even if he comes back.Comment

I do wonder if our lacklustre runnning rnd1 last year is behind the higher intensity training this preseason.Comment

Another Bulldog in race against time for R1, mid battling calf issue
Bailey Dale is sidelined with a quad injury and won't play in the Bulldogs' AAMI Community Series clash
By Josh Gabelich
ALL-AUSTRALIAN half-back Bailey Dale is the latest Western Bulldogs star racing the clock to be fit for the club's round one clash against North Melbourne on March 15.
The 28-year-old is sidelined with a quad injury and won't face Hawthorn in Thursday night's AAMI Community Series clash at University of Tasmania Stadium.
Dale also missed the match simulation session against Essendon at Mission Whitten Oval earlier this month, but could bank some minutes in Footscray's practice match against North Melbourne next Saturday.
After establishing himself as a star by collecting a blazer in 2021, Dale was included in the All-Australian squad last year, before finishing equal runner-up in the Charles Sutton Medal alongside Adam Treloar.
Gun half-back-turned-midfielder Ed Richards is also dealing with a calf issue after suffering the injury at training last Friday.
The out-of-contract Victorian won't play in Launceston on Thursday, but the club remains hopeful he will be available to start the season against the Kangaroos.

Richards has been one of the best performers on the track over the summer, spending the entire season training in the midfield.
Six-time All-Australian Marcus Bontempelli and veteran inside midfielder Tom Liberatore have both headed to Launceston on Wednesday to play against the Hawks after being managed against the Bombers.
Luke Beveridge will start 2025 without access to Cody Weightman (knee), Liam Jones (hamstring), Adam Treloar (calf), Jamarra Ugle-Hagan (personal) and Jason Johanissen (hamstring).
Treloar has made strong progress in his recovery from a series of calf strains but the reigning All-Australian midfielder needs to bank a decent training block before he is ready to play.
