Given our overall depth in most positions and an enviable development program at Footscray, I think we can afford to be patient with some longer term prospects if we believe they'll be excellent AFL players.
It would be a luxury seeing an actual KPF playing at Whitten Oval, rather than a makeshift set up.
Yes, we have a great programme to develop the younger players.

Another tall who may be a good late pick/rookie option is Luke Strnadica from WA. I went off him a bit after modest testing, but have since read that he had bad blood blisters on the day, so his efforts weren't so bad considering. He is a mobile 201 cm, 95 kg full forward/ruck. I really like some of the traits he showed in this game against Vic metro as an underager last year.
Brett Anderson on SEN has again linked us with Todd Marshall. Don't rate him as a journo as I think he's a surface feeder. Looking forward to Emma Quayle's thoughts

Apparently he hasn't been invited to the draft so that would mean he's not expected to go top 10. He could fall to us I guess. WE may learn more when Quayle and to a lesser extent Twomey start predicting
THE AFL has their Draft Machine ready for this year. If you have a couple of players your interested in but haven't seen a lot of them then it's a good chance to have a quick look.
Go_Dogs pick of Shai Bolton has a good some good highlights. He could be a very dangerous small forward.

Its really an interesting choice at 18 and 26 this year. I Like the points above and agree that its time to have a crack at a developing KPF, we seem well set up to handle it with our current development program and Cloke will be a handy addition too that. Marshall is bloody raw but gee he is good at ground level for a player of his height and his kicking isn't bad either. As long as he can run a decent beep as in something significantly more than Liam Jones then won't be unhappy if we go that way.
Venables is the mid i like if we go that way on with our first pic. We don't have a player that can win inside, explode out and hit a target/kick a goal. I'm a little bit iffy on his interview on the AFL site but agree that he does have a little bit of Shuey in him which is a style of player our list is lacking.
Will Hayward is another player i really like also. With his making power, goal sense and defensive pressure he would be a gun 3rd forward at AFL level. We are seriously lacking natural forwards on our list and with Crameri and Dickson in their late 20's he would be a great addition.
Backs: Despite losing premiership defender Joel Hamling to Fremantle, the key defensive stocks look sound with Zaine Cordy set to return to backline after playing as a forward this year, Marcus Adams to resume from injury and 2015 draftee Kieran Collins developing well in the VFL. The club's renowned versatility will come in handy if age catches up with veteran running defenders Robert Murphy and Matthew Boyd, with sufficient coverage in reserve at Whitten Oval.
Midfield: The Dogspossess one of the deepest midfields in the AFL, but Luke Beveridge will be keen to give youngsters Josh Dunkley, Lukas Webb, Bailey Williams and Bailey Dale more opportunities to join a rotation featuring Marcus Bontempelli, Tom Liberatore and company. With another pre season under his belt, dynamic forward Jake Stringer is poised to spend more minutes on the ball.
Forwards: Like most clubs, the Bulldogs aren't flush with key forward options and that saw them recruit former Magpie Travis Cloke. Tom Boyd took a massive step to realising his undoubted potential in the Grand Final, but the club would love to land another marking option in the upcoming draft. The Dogs don't want for creative smaller types.
Rucks: The ruck is one area in which the Dogs don't have a lot of depth, with Tom Campbell the only recognised ruckman. But hybrid big men Jordan Roughead and Tom Boyd served the Dogs well this season, with Beveridge a fan of mobile followers.
The priority: A key forward would be on top of the Dogs' draft shopping list, but a developing ruckman should also be keenly sought. A key defender and a skillful midfielder wouldn't go astray either. - Ryan Davidson
Dream draft according to Cal Twomey: The Bulldogs brought in Travis Cloke to bolster their key forward stocks, and could also draft the best tall goalkicker in the draft. Todd Marshall is a chance to get through to their first pick (No.18) and although he has been inconsistent he would be a nice player to let develop physically before bringing into the top level.

I'm not sure I see the Higgins Gallucci comparison but our first 2 picks are very hard to determine.
I can't imagine Venables sliding down the order but he'd be a worthy consideration. As you say Kruder he has that explosive style that could probably swing a game quickly.
Hayward is a natural and a strong mark for his size. He just reads the play in the air so well.
Powell-Pepper is a strong midfielder and could play senior footy early on.
I wonder which way would go if Marshall, Hayward, Venables, Gallucci and Powell-Pepper were all available at pick 18?

So Twomey with his assistant are saying with our list analysis:
18 - KPF in Marshall
26 -
50 - Long (has been mentioned previously)
75 - (or DFA which is unlikely)
Rookie list 18 -
A KPF and utility in Long sound like a good start. If Adams & Morris finish with us next year I think we need a defender or DFA, or rookie list a KPD. I'd like another good kicking mid. Where would a ruck fit in our other picks, with value for pick?

BT, I think we are almost forced into getting a ruckman at pick 75 or as a rookie. Perhaps we might reach for one at pick 50 but we will probably still be in best available mode.
