I'm on 3, ludicrous decision by the Crows if they bid on him at one.

In a draft you always go for best available, even if you think you may not get the player. you never know what another team will do.

Hmmm... well, what’s marketing’s job? Surely it’s not just cheap press releases? I’d say it has more to do with supporting business goals and objectives, and those are clearly a combo of on-field and off-field success.

I’d guess the marketing team actually want wants best for the club overall. Which is clearly a later bid and the opportunity to draft others we’re eyeing off.

Let’s face it, being in marketing for a footy club would be much easier if they’re winning. They prob have fan engagement and memebership KPIs and they go through the roof after a good season (or a flag!). And as mentioned, it’s not like the difference between a story or not about JUH is dependent on him being taken early.

I am sure the marketing team would want what is best for the club as you say, but if JUH falls at #1 they are absolutely going to rub their hands together.

Re: Jamarra and the Points System Strategy

                          It's a no lose story:

                          A) Dogs get the best player in the Draft, a so-called Buddy Franklin clone at Pick 1

                          B) Dogs get the best player in the Draft, a so-called Buddy Franklin clone at Pick 3 (hopefully securing a future 2nd because of it)

                          C) Either of the above, and the 'Super Son of A Super Gun' joins Cordy, Liberatore, Wallis, Hunter & West at the true red, white and blue family club.

                          D) All of the above: Plus they join Treloar, Martin & Hannan (VFL Flag) with Dunkley staying.

                          E) All of the above: Plus Bonts signing a six year extension.

Expect a ton of press. Expect 'premiership favourites' and 'anything less than a top 4 finish is a failure' thrown around. Expect hate that we can have all these talented players, refuse Dunkley, still get Treloar and get a generational player. Which generates clicks, which will spread the good word across the Internet to members and non members alike. Expect the club to set up 'speccy' sessions where Jamarra can stand of the head of Gardner/Keath and those to be circulated across social media regularly. When JUH is re-signed very quickly, expect even more buzz. If there's not HUUUUGE plans with his player sponsorship or even a new coterie just for access to him I'd be shocked. I'd bet he'll make the club the most money from any first year player ever, even moreso to not yet debut. Plus he will be a great indigenous ambassador for the club, and will probably help us a shitload more sales of our indigenous jumper and with our programs in Ballarat and out west. I'd say there's a generous ASA to pay him for that on top of his rookie wages.

This is the calm before the storm. Like before I recruited Tom Boyd. There's the pre-Jamarra times and the post-Jamarra times. Enjoy the vanilla niceness of the semi-COVID restrictions. Come Wednesday, it's all going to change for anyone interested in this club. This year has been horrific, but in a limited sense, all that gets forgotten when Bevo gives Jamarra his RW&B in a few days time. If you think it's just words: he's already our quickest forward pocket, outside of maybe Hunter he's our best endurance winger, he's the highest flying of our talk forwards, one of our best and hardest tacklers, and amount our best marking intercept defenders. Only second most flexible to Bontempelli. That's already the case just three days out from being drafted. Bring on the post-Jamarra world.

I want to see him develop into the player he can be with us and make the entire competition realise that the previous pissing and moaning wasn't anywhere near how hard they could piss and moan after all.

And then I want him to dominate so they can all suck our collective balls.
That's a lot of balls Jee.

You and Peter Gordon have both taken credit in the past few days, looks like you might have to duke it out to settle this.

Re: Jamarra and the Points System Strategy

If Jamarra goes at 3 we will need 1788 points.

Picks 26,33,41& 42 will more than cover that. It will leave an excess of about 235 points. I'm not sure what happens to this excess.

Does it get added to our next pick and by doing so moves it up the order (pick 52 = 246 + 235 becomes pick 38?) or does it generate a new pick which would be pick 53? Leaving us with 52,53 & 54.

If it's the latter surely we would package them up for a move up the draft or for future picks to get back in 2021 a bit more. Swans or West Coast could be buyers.
