Sort of like we would have said about Bailey Dale anytime before this year? Don't be too quick to give up on players with obvious talent I reckon.

You mean he lacks intensity, like Liam Jones and Josh Schache?
I think his go is a forward / chop-out ruck but if he shows any promise at all at FB we can try him there, releasing Keath to the second defender where he can intercept a bit more. We've seen him intercept when he floats back as a ruck so it's not like it's completely a foreign concept.
Ask about Port's Lienardt as a cheap intercepting 'tallish' type and Cordy and Gardner might play when required. Sam Darcy gets eased in with no pressure to play seniors.

I think if I was to narrow it down, is if he's not floating or getting a clear run at the football he's too soft and too easily moved in marking contests - much like he is at boundary throw ins.

He still has the potential to be an excellent second ruck/ forward, and should be given time to develop into that role.

I still think we need to move on English but I would be very disappointed if we brought in Lobb or Ladhams as replacements.

Do we lose leverage with English out of contract end of 2022?

Be careful with that. Naughty and Timmy are very tight.

Geelong are as bad as we are with rucks. They have Stanley who is barely ok, Darcy Fort who can't run, Ratagolea who is a 2nd ruck / average forward who occasionally looks good, and not much else unless they want to use Blicavs who is basically Tim English with pace

The Geelong example proves that it's not necessarily a case of having enough ruck man. They have enough
I was previously only luke warm interested in perhaps landing Ceglar but I'm more open to it now

Tim is 24 years old, 207cm and very mobile and has shown he can play. You don't get rid of guys like that.

How would you rate him out of 10 as a ruck man and then as a key forward?
If you then project out in another 2 years lets see what the ratings might be then?

Does he need to cover as much ground for as long as a forward/ ruck, compared to a ruck? If he doesn't, then it might be an opportunity to get more bulk on him at the expense of being able to cover as much ground as a full time ruck does.

More forward training would need to be on the cards as well.

Lets talk about Dale succeeding after the 2022 campaign.

Dale made two critical errors very early against Melbourne in the first game and again in the GF. Kinda set the tone I reckon.

He has a lot of upside and showed plenty until he was concussed. He took over 5 weeks to get back and I think his confidence was down for the rest of the season.

His ruck work is not rated highly on tap outs, but around the ground he can take lots of marks. As a Key Forward, again he needs work there. First 6 rounds he kicked 9 goals then from 11 to GF he only kicked another 10. With both Bruce and Naughton taking so many marks in the forward line, some one has to miss out.

In two years at the age of 26 he will hit his peak and should rate more highly.
