No chance Noble needs to win games next year to keep his spot.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

            EAGLES CHASE A SWEET DEAL

WEST Coast has sounded out Western Bulldogs ruckman Jordon Sweet.

It's understood the Eagles are chasing ruck depth during this year's Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period and have asked the question of Sweet, who is surveying his options after a frustrating year at the Whitten Oval.

The Bulldogs have tabled an offer to Sweet and remain confident that he will extend his deal beyond 2021, but a decision on his future will come after a season where he managed just five senior games despite Stefan Martin's injury issues.

Sweet was held out of the Bulldogs' team late in the season as the side chased a top-four spot, with versatile 201cm youngster Lewis Young instead preferred in the ruck for its finals against Essendon and Brisbane.

DOGS’ PICK 17 PART OF TRADE TALKS WITH TIGERS TO HELP LAND DARCY

Richmond and the Western Bulldogs are exploring a trade that would see the Tigers land Pick 17 in exchange for later selections to help facilitate father-son prospect Sam Darcy’s move to Whitten Oval, reports 7 News’ Tom Browne.

It comes as Richmond received an end of second-round compensation pick (No. 38) for free agent Mabior Chol signing with Gold Coast Suns.

The Tigers are now armed with a strong hand ahead of the November National Draft, holding Picks 7, 15, 26, 28, 38, 40 and 44.

And with Darcy expected to receive a bid with one of the early selections, the Dogs need to add draft points, currently only holding Picks 17 and 72.

“The Tigers have five picks now in the second and third rounds. Richmond can in effect group those up for Pick 17,” Browne said.

I think the Cats traded their future first during the 2020 draft for the Tigers pick 20 to get Holmes.

Listened to something yesterday that said it will start with the Chol compensation pick of 38 with 40, 44 and something else that will get us around the 1,350 to 1,400 points range compared to 1,025 we currently have at pick 17.
The pick numbers are somewhat irrelevant as our interest is more about points.

If Darcy goes at pick 3 we need to cover around 1,790 points once the discount is applied.

Dogs eye free agent Hawk, versatile tall requests trade to Carlton

THE WESTERN Bulldogs are eyeing Hawthorn free agent Tim O'Brien as defensive cover with out-of-contract Bulldog Lewis Young requesting a trade to Carlton.

O'Brien is out of contract at the Hawks and the unrestricted free agent is without a deal for 2022.

But the Bulldogs have shown interest in adding the versatile O'Brien to their mix with Young set to take up an offer from the Blues after officially requesting a trade on Monday on the opening day of the Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period.

Young is expected to do a medical with the Blues as early as Monday, the opening day of this year's Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period, and could soon request a trade.

The 22-year-old Bulldog has a two-year offer in front of him from the club but had been weighing his future after playing nine games this year for the Grand Finalists.

O'Brien has been in contract limbo at the Hawks for some time, with Port Adelaide also among the clubs who have shown interest in him.

The 27-year-old played 19 games for the Hawks this season for a total of 97 throughout his career at Waverley.

Largely O'Brien has been used as a key forward but he has also spent periods in the back half, with his versatility an appeal for the Dogs if Young departs.

As an unrestricted free agent O'Brien would be able to walk to the Bulldogs without the Hawks being able to match an offer, however Hawthorn could receive a compensation pick for him depending on the value of a deal he takes up.

The Hawks currently hold three picks inside the first 24 selections but are keen to improve that hand, with rivals believing they are open to offers for key players as incoming coach Sam Mitchell undertakes a draft-focused build.

I think Tim Obrien is an upgrade of Young even though I think Young has a lot more improvement in him if he is given a good run at it. Seeing that Obrien comes for free is a win for us for sure.

What is Young worth pick wise I wonder? 3rd round?

I don’t really think O’Brien is a like for like replacement of Young. He’s a lot shorter. I don’t like this as a swap. Picking up O’Brien on it’s own is ok. But I really think we’ve stuffed it up with Young. If I see him take up a permanent position in defence at Carlton and rack up intercepting marks I’ll be bitterly disappointed in how we’ve managed him.

Ultimately though we have a list squeeze going on and we’re gonna have to let some go. If we get good ruck and defensive cover then whatever.

I wonder if we will see any vaccine refusal trades? Tom McDonald seems to hold those type of views. Pendlebury got the jab but his twitter is, um, interesting.
