I often wonder if Danjul and Bulldog Joe were ruckman in the day. Not sure why but their posting passions make me think they were.

      Thanks Mofra.

I'll hold my powder dry until after the trade period but we seriously need to get our shit together.

This is turning comical and more silverware will go begging.

I still have faith in Sam Power and given we haven't even announced delistings yet it's not time to panic.
The market does seem pretty thin for decent rucks though. Even second tier battlers aren't exactly plentiful.

Do we need a big KPD or an interceptor more? I get that Keath could be the interceptor if we got a monster to take over his current role, but if that doesn't happen Keath could continue in the role he has been excellent in for us. Lienert could then do what Wood and Crozier no longer seem able to and take some intercept marks and then distribute with much better efficiency than either Easton or Hayden are capable of.

Of course Young could also be that intercept marker if he stays.

Agreed. Ronke has talent no doubt and if we can acquire him cheaply I don't hate giving him a spot. On potential alone he's an upgrade on Cavarra and has scope to be our best small crumbing forward, which we desperately need. This could be our best option of getting in a player with a high ceiling but with plenty of risk. Started his career brilliantly but as you note can't get on the park.

Goodness me our ruck situation is deplorable really. Drafted in a high pick to ruck but is clearly not a ruckman, drafted in a ruck and then play an intercepting defender in front of him. Whispers on an English move whispers on a Sweet move and the likely retirement of Martin. If Young goes we're back to Dunkley. Talk about a nightmare domino effect why are we like this?

And then some clubs never struggle with certain roles. Has Melbourne ever had a terrible ruck situation? Does West Coast ever need better key position players?

We nail mids each cycle yet we’re historically terrible in other areas of the ground. Probably why we only have 2 cups on the shelf.
Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Maybe at 26, and in his prime as a ruckman, Tommy Boyd’s ready to return, and will nominate us for his second coming.

                    Graham Wright:

                    Pat Lipinski

“Patty Lipinski has found it difficult to get into a really good Bulldogs team, so he hasn’t played a lot,” Wright said.

“The age demographic suited us, but he also adds depth positionally to a number of spots – he can play half-forward, wing, on-ball, half-back. He’s got the ability to play in all those spots.

“He just hasn’t been able to get a run at the Bulldogs and was looking for opportunity and we’re really keen to see if that can happen.

“At this stage, we haven’t spoken to the Bulldogs, so we’re hopeful that can happen as well.”

Collingwood currently holds picks 36, 39, 41 and 45 in this year’s National Draft.

Weirdly, for many years ruck was a position we never had to worry about. I grew up watching the 80s Bulldogs with Purser a rock solid reliable type.

We have had some great ruckman over the years - and at least three of them Brownlow medalists. After Purser we had Scotty Wyn and Luke Darcy, then AA - Minson.

We put too many eggs into the basket of Tom Boyd plus Tim English, which would have been a good combo.

I think we are a little too critical Ruck wise, you can't get everything right, Bruce and Keath have been excellent recruits, Martin was worth the risk also. We just fell short and agree with many was more of our mids failing to adjust.

Just a question to all, who kicks the 50 goals Bruce did this year? Not an easy spot to fill. Can Schahce put it together for a full season? How many times have we seen a role player step up for finals but fail over the course of the year?

I think English as a permanent forward can kick 30 goals for sure, I'm a little more bullish about him than most forward of centre.

Marra and Weightman should improve a few lengths for sure.
