        1st pick
        Phillipou
        Allan
        MacKenzie
        Jefferson
        Busslinger
        Weddle

        2nd Pick
        George
        Weddle
        Jones
        J.Ryan
        Barnett
        Gruzewski

        3rd Pick
        J.Ryan
        Barnett
        Gruzewski
        Clarke
        Van Es
        Macdonald
        Marshall
With Jefferson do we need another key forward with our first selection?

It's unlikely, moreso because there'll be better options available at that pick but he's certainly around the mark.

GVGjr, what kind of impact do you think Weddle can have in his first 12 months? Is he capable of pushing others aside and making that third defender role his own?

He could very well be used as a tall defender. He's played there before.

He's got that strong physical presence and could push for a few senior games next year but we do have a number of players that would be in front of him.
Would be competing with the likes of Khamis and O'Brien for that 3rd tall defenders role.

                Re: 2022 Draft Watch

It wouldn't surprise me if he overtook them by season's end. Not putting any pressure on him because we do have options as you say but there's also no ceiling on what he could achieve. He strikes me as the type that could impress Bevo quickly, earn a debut and hold his spot.

6-12 games wouldn't be beyond him, with him making the spot his own by the start of 2024.

The idea of Weddle or George being there at 21 is rather exciting.

Really hoping we can pinch a slider at 11.

Good to see that you rate his potential so highly.
He's probably in the mix for our first pick and hard to pass on if he was somehow still there at 21.

                        Re: 2022 Draft Watch

This is an article on Harry Lemmey, a 199cm key position prospect from SA. There is a bit to unpack here. Earlier this year he was in contention for pick 1 in the draft but now faces uncertainty as to whether he will be drafted.

This would be a fascinating deep dive for any recruiting team to find out what happened this year and why. Is it all mental or circumstantial? You don't get into the AFL Academy and be considered for a top draft pick for nothing.

Maybe key defence is best for him at this stage. Will watch with interest.

                          Re: 2022 Draft Watch

There have been a lot of similar Harry Lemmey type scenarios come the draft.
The year before he was draft by the Eagles at 35 in 2018 Bailey Williams was being touted as a genuine type 5 chance for his draft year.
199cm tall, 90kg who could play in the ruck or up forward or even back but some injuries slowed his progress.

After missing out on Keiran Briggs the Eagles selected Williams who should have gone earlier but apparently he's laconic and easy going nature had clubs questioning how he would go in a professional environment.

You can get injured and you will be forgiven. You can do a LOT of things and you will be forgiven.

But if you don't play like you love it...

Really good point, at times footy isn't everything to some of the players. Picking someone who doesn't seem as passionate as other potential draftees might be hard to justify.
