    Re: 2022 Draft Watch

Watched some highlights of Alwyn Davey and I see Twomey has him in the top 20 but is also saying he is eligible for Essendon but it doesnt look like he has formalised that. Highlights are just that but he has great vision of finding team mates.

If I read his post correctly he rates him highly just not above Phillipou which makes sense if you think Phillipou is the best player in the draft. But based on that he wont be there when we have our pick.

Twomey's latest phantom is bad news. Philipou, Allan and Weddle all moving up and beyond our respective 1st/2nd Rd picks.

In that hypothetical (noting Carlton seem pretty set on Hollands) - pick 11, 39 & F 2nd to Sydney for 14 & 17?

We're only taking 3 live picks to draft so we'd end up with 14, 17 and 21 (pre-bidding) and Sydney have noted they want to move up in this draft and rate next year's draft as far superior (we'd still hold 2 first rounders next year).

Something like a Hayes/George/Konstanty draft haul would be outstanding (perhaps too 'needs based' for us to really consider though and assume George starts forward but eventually plays midfield).

Good news is it's a ranking, not a phantom draft.

He put a disclaimer on it

This is AFL.com.au's October edition of the Phantom Form Guide, with a final ranking of the best 30 players in this year's draft class to come in November.

Remember this is not a mock draft and is not suggesting the players will get picked at the numbers they are in this form guide but instead a pure ranking of the best players in our view.

Makes a lot of sense. 3 picks inside of 25 is a good position for us.

I think that would be a great position. There does seem to be a lot of talent and no super clear stand outs after the top 10 so if we could get 3 players in from that 10-25 batch I'd be really happy.

Power did mention something like that didn't he.

Like the look of Barnett, looks like a one grabber and moves quite well with a propensity to keep the ball in motion which I think would suit Bevo and our forward structure. What price is a fair price for a ruckman as traditionally they go quite late with Grundy and English the obvious exceptions.

We would have to use 21 and I think fair value would be 25 to 28

^ I'd rather we just take the best ruck we can find at the rookie draft. Even for a highly rated 'slider' (e.g. English) as a first rounder, Sean Darcy (2nd round) and Oscar McInerny (rookie) were taken after him in 2016.

I know many people regard Lobb as a ruckman but I don't think he is a 4 quarter ruck option. Based on that we should grab a good one now given we couldn't land one during the trade period.

For a defender arm length is more important then height. Wondering what Weddle's and Gruzewski's results were for those in the know?

I'm warming to one of those at our 2nd pick.

Both are terrific players. I will see what I can find about the arm lengths
