Not quite what you're asking, but I'd love Munkara to go just before pick 40 so Essendon miss out

If he is the best available lets jump on it.

Impressive the way he takes the game on but are we likely pick him?

No idea. Someone mentioned we interviewed him but we probably interview everyone in the top 50 or so
I guess having an interrupted year and less exposed form might mean he slips

              Re: 2022 Draft Watch

GWS are looking to move on pick 19 (20) and I wonder if we should consider trading our Brisbane linked future 1st for it?
There might be a bit of a swap between their pick 31 and our pick 39 to balance things out.
I wouldn't mind getting a pick ahead of West Coast which could put Brayden George more in play for us.

Swans are looking to move up the order and have picks 14 and 17 (15 and 18)
I'm not sure our pick 11 and 21 (12, 22) will be enough enough of a lure for them because I think they want to get inside of the top 10.

It will be fascinating to see what levers Sam Power and the team use to help get the players we are targeting.

I think BT has already suggested it, but how about 11, 21 and lions future 1st for 15, 18 and 19?

If we rate the draft, we absolutely should. A recent precedent for Pick 20 was a Future First tied to Geelong. GWS I imagine will assess Brisbane as likely to play in the PF or GF. We would say they won’t and hope to get more.

My more would be Pick 31 for our Future Second (Bris) in the deal too.

Then Picks 31 & 39 to Essendon for Pick 22.

                  Then we have 11, 19, 21 & 22 - Future 1st, 3 x Future 4ths

                  I’d entertain Swans 14 & 17 for 11 & 22 if we thought we’d better placed overall:

                  Then we have 14, 17, 19 & 21 - Future 1st, 3 x Future 4ths

Four picks inside 21 (23) would be huge on top of Jones & Lobb and holding a F1.

I’d also consider the alternate deal with Essendon to not to the deal on Pick 22 alone - assuming they want to trade up ahead of a Davey bid. Which could be say Pick 14, Pick 31 & 39 (Points for both Daveys) and F1 (Bris) & F4 (Geel) - for - Pick 22 and Essendon’s Future First. Essendon draft 3 first rounders this year and hold a Future First, an extra 4th and a later pick after bids for brother Davey. At the cost of a Future First downgrade.

(Dons Future First - for - Pick 14, points trade (300+ extra points securing Davey in the first as required), F1 (Br) & F4 (Gee) )

                  Then we have Pick 17, (no 19 as F1 BR goes here), 21 & 22 - Future 1st (Dons), Future 1st (Dogs), 2 x Future 4ths

Edit: Alternately trading Essendon our F1 and keeping the Brisbane F1 to GWS:

                  Then we have Pick 17, 19, 21 & 22 - F1 tied to Essendon & 2 x Future 4ths, $1M+ Cash

I’d be happy for Sam Power to be really active if he rates the late first/early second this year and if Pick 11 isn’t a clear cut gun player that won’t be there a few picks later.

Yep… keep the F1 for next year and use it as leverage to bring in a player of need or use it in what is supposedly shaping as a strong draft pool.

On that basis, with Davey not likely to get to Pick 24 (after shuffling) for Essendon, I think trying to package our Future Second to get a low 30’s this year with Pick 39 could be a solid draft points trade for both clubs. Or our Picks 39 (into 37) and 69 (into 63) and Future Second could work well for both too. Dons use circa Picks 37 & 50 on Davey. Then live trade that F2 for something like Norths pick 40 (coming into top 30’s and then have insurance on Munkara and late picks of points to secure him). Could be a solid ‘live trade’ option.

                        Picks 11, 21 & 22 - or then through Sydney (14, 17 for 11, 22) - then in that scenario we have Picks 14, 17 & 21 — still with two F1’s and three F4’s.

Trying to get an early 2nd this year, for a late second this year and next (plus a 4th this year we won’t use) if we can convince Essendon to look at us as a draft points trade partner.

I'm not sure why we would want to limit ourselves to just 3 picks.
The draft is deep enough and some of the players predicted to go past pick 40 offer a genuine point of difference to our playing list.
I hope we reconsider but knowing we probably won't.

Power and Milesi indicated we're taking 3 live picks then upgrading Sweet and Khamis this year.

We seem set to take two rookies, at least one of them someone who has already been in the system

Urrrgh......2 rookies. I get handing someone who has had a steller year at state level a lifeline, but a plodder/list clogger type player is not the answer. Its a loooooong time since we plucked a Matt Boyd, JJ, or a Morris. Not sayign they aren't out there, but our recent picks have been underwhelming.
