Re: Minister of Trades
My bad...I didn't mean all of them. I meant as options. I'll proof read my posts a bit better in future. As has been said before, but continues to be a regularly suggested option on footy forums (particularly Bigfooty), adding more crap players to the deal doesn't make it more attractive.
Why would Essendon do that trade? Tiller isn't needed as they have tall backs, Callan isn't needed as they have defenders with more potential, and Addison gives them another slowish bloke to add to their midfield/defence. They then have to find space on the list for them, they would be taking two spots for developing players away, and on top of this Essendon give us not just a talented regular AFL player, but a draft pick.
When trading it's quality over quantity, not the other way around.
That being said, I think those players mentioned are good players starved of opportunity. We are one of the top 4 sides in the league, don't forget that. Any one of those blokes would be walk up starters for a developing team like Essendon, or any team outside the 8for that matter. Many on here were happy to see Wade Skipper get an opportunity at Hawthorn, and it's for that same reason I would offer up these guys.Comment

Re: Minister of Trades
I thought of a bit of a left field one this morning driving into work.
Would anyone entertain the idea of a 3 way trade with Adelaide and Collingwood.
Something like Minson to Adelaide, Fraser to the Bulldogs (more forward presence than Minson) and Adelaide give their 2nd rounder to Collingwood?
Like I said, left field, because I'm not even sure I would want Fraser ahead of Minson.
Just throwing this up for discussion.Comment

Re: Minister of Trades
No, you dont trade a ruckman for a ruckman unless you gain a significant advantage, which you dont with Josh who is 4 years older than Minson.I thought of a bit of a left field one this morning driving into work.

Re: Minister of Trades
Rich Tambling touted as tradeable. 100 gamer, some pace, reasonable disposable, basically a slightly better version of Ray or McMahon (and with a bit of an inside game as well), would fill a gap on our list.
Interest? What would it take? (Word is Essendon will offer up Houli, which seems to be undervaluing Tambling a bit...)Comment

Re: Minister of Trades
I might be an absolute numptie, but I'd have a decent look at Tambling. He clearly has elite-ish pace which we sorely lack, and after 100 odd games, could be ready to mature.
If anything, it will give Mantis someone to shout at when Eagleton retires at the end of the year.
A player such as Hill or Everitt and a swapping of picks (our third round for their second) might get it done. Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.Comment

Re: Minister of Trades
True in his first 80 or so games, but showed all-Australian form INSIDE in the second half of the 2009 season, has dropped off this year but definitely has a ball-winning side to his game, predicated more on clean hands then being tough, granted.
Rhyce Shaw makes Eagleton look like a thug, but Sydney have used him well this year to break the lines and get some run into their side. We look pretty one-paced after Coons and Griff.
