Bate's is a FA(unrestricted), so we would have to be pretty dumb to trade for him when we could have got him for nothing last week.

Well Sydney was all over Sherman 2 years ago and were more than ready to part with pick 22 (until he chose the Dogs as his preferred destination). Doubt they are still keen but I'd ask the question of them - always good policy to be involved as the 3rd wheel in any stalemate trade as we can benefit if we play our cards right. Never know, we could wrangle their late 2nd round pick off them with some other shuffling of draft picks between Adelade and us to sweeten it in the Crows favour. Maybe something like this:

Sydney - Gain Tippett, Sherman. Lose White, picks 22 and 45.
Adelaide - Gain White, picks 22 and 45. Lose Tippett, pick 54.
Dogs - Lose Sherman. Gain pick 54 (pick 45 ontraded from Sydney to us but then swapped with Adelaide for their pick 54).

We then effectively swap Sherman for Stevens on our list and keep a similar draft pick position (down 3 spots from 51 to 54).

I might be wrong on this. Shifter mentioned they only have 2 NT zone selections, but the rules make no mention of it.

Well Sydney was all over Sherman 2 years ago and were more than ready to part with pick 22 (until he chose the Dogs as his preferred destination). Have a feeling Crows might employ the Nick Stevens clause.
