    Neeld certaintly rates him and he is only 24 years old. He will replace Lake in the forward line

        ESSENDON and the WESTERN BULLDOGS are pursuing West Coast on-baller Koby Stevens.

          He fits the age criteria we're looking at, but the theory that "he can't get a game because he's playing for a good team" has rarely produced a good player for the next club.

            Re: 2012 Trade rumours and discussion

            HAWTHORN midfielder Clinton Young toured the Westpac Centre facilities last night with COLLINGWOOD seeking a trade for the experienced on-baller.

            Young is also being sounded out by the Brisbane Lions. He is not the only Hawk that is set to leave the nest from the fallout of acquiring Brian Lake yesterday.

            Stephen Gilham may head to the GOLD COAST after the Suns made some enquiries about his services last night. Tom Murphy may also leave to seek further opportunities elsewhere.
            I guess we weren't interested in any of these Hawks.

              So we trade Lake for Dawes and and give away pick 27 for pick 41 because having Dawes means we are much better off than having Lake

                Personally - I'm not keen on any of those three names. Murphy and Gilham have been around for a while without impressing too much. I'm not a fan of Clinton Young. His effort against Kieran Jack late in the GF summed it up a bit.

                  I agree as well, prefer to take picks

                    Worked out pretty well for Kennedy and McGlynn though

                      It did, but you could fill a warehouse with those that didn't.

                      Just from Geelong in the past couple of years;

                        True.

                        Is the draft strikerate much better after the first dozen picks?

                          I don't mind Young actually. It's a bit rough to go on one incident that is under the microscope. You'll find a lot of those every game. He put together some pretty good games late in the season. Not that I'm terribly upset he wasn't included in our trade but he'd be a handy player for us. He'll find a home elsewhere and be a very serviceable player.

                            I am not excited by potentially obtaining Dawes. It is widely recognised that he is the ultimate prefessional when it comes to traning/professionalism and preparing himself for games. Has an attitude second to none.

                                It's a great attitude to have but sadly doesn't mean you can play the game, hopefully Macca does look at his ability too.
