Pretty common business decision these days isn't it. It's why Lake went to Hawthorn and also why Carlton aren't fighting teeth and nail over Waite. In order to trade out long serving vets you run the risk of heavy losses and a disgruntled fan base but if the board, president et al. are on the same page it's a sound decision. The fans will pick up their lips when the wins come afresh with a team of 20 somethings. St. Kilda did it well by getting rid of Goddard, McEvoy and Dal Santo. Hell they would have got rid of Fisher too if he was fit and had some collateral and probably Riewoldt too if they didn't run the risk of a supporter revolt.
