On the flip side, it'd be dumb business by us to try for him. He'd simply help us finish 12th instead of 14th or 9th instead of 11th for a couple of years prior to bowing out and leaving us with a hole. If we are to trade, it has to be for U/24's.
Pretty common business decision these days isn't it. It's why Lake went to Hawthorn and also why Carlton aren't fighting teeth and nail over Waite. In order to trade out long serving vets you run the risk of heavy losses and a disgruntled fan base but if the board, president et al. are on the same page it's a sound decision. The fans will pick up their lips when the wins come afresh with a team of 20 somethings. St. Kilda did it well by getting rid of Goddard, McEvoy and Dal Santo. Hell they would have got rid of Fisher too if he was fit and had some collateral and probably Riewoldt too if they didn't run the risk of a supporter revolt.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Huddo has retired from Collingwood. Wonder who is going to play for next year.

Well done on a great career big fella.

Didn't he play more forward this year, averaged a grand total of 9.6 disposals a game...no thanks

I'm yet to see a club who has created success by shipping off their experienced and best players for draft picks. Until these clubs start to win premierships I'm less than convinced

Certainly merit in culling 'older' players from the list when you are in a so-called rebuild phase. Thus we should entertain trading the likes of Cooney; Minson and Grant (even though he is only 25) who still have some trade value and letting Higgins go as a FA (hopefullly with decent compo). Interesting that we have signed Boyd for another year.

Tell you the truth haven't seen much of him, but he is a good size, athletic and only 21. Was originally taken as GWS first rookie pick.

Casboult just signed 2 year extension with Carlton. Back to the drawing board

No surprise. I couldn't see any reason for him to leave.

Can he kick the footy? We already have Talia as a key back who is an average distributor by foot and too often we've seen Morris isolated and turning it over.

Hopefully we've played our part in putting some pressure on their cap.

He's not the best distributor by foot but he's a strong athlete with some pace, and that puts him ahead of Talia/Roberts IMO. We need a couple of key defenders with some speed, as the above two and Roughead are very slow.

Don't think I can recall Morris ever turning it over......perhaps because he always kicks within his limitations.
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
