Re: Coronavirus Info & Helpful Direction

The issue on coming out of lockdown, is surely based on any new cases being in the previously identified close contacts.

If it is outside that the lockdown is likely to be extended.

The age care worker is certainly a concerning case and hopefully they can at least identify it as part of the current outbreak.

Why is it that only Victoria have this issue?
You are spot on BJ. I've been able to travel interstate earlier this year and in each state I visited, the community and businesses are much better trained at ensuring check-ins occur. Every restaurant and cafe, they wouldn't let us in the door until witnessing the check-in on the State QR-code app. Also, when travelling in a group, it was far easier checking in multiple people on the app/

Only Victoria has an App that isn't purely a check-in app. Only Victoria has an App where you can't save other people who you can check-in with on the app. If you are family of four, for example, in Victoria you have to use the app to sign in four times individually, whereas other states you can have your family unit saved already and check-in all at once.

In Victoria, there has been little public education on QR codes and checking in - my mother thought she'd be doing it correctly but then showed me 50 photos of QR codes she'd taken on her phone, rather than actually checking in.

        .
Gee this shits me. For kids sports on Monday I sign in my daughter, Tuesday my Son, Wednesday my daughter, Thursday my son and Friday technically is supposed to be 2 of them but you cant add 2 people at once so usually its just the name of the last person signed in.

And of course between all of those days I am signing myself into random places.

It can't be that hard to setup a family profile and choose "check in family" or something should it.

That's software development, it should be prioritised. I'm not sure who devs the services vic app.

Whenever I check in, under names, I just put in my name and wife's name on the one line

In SA and Qld (not sure of others) you use the app to check in and it is so easy because all the info is saved in the app. It does require each person to check in but it takes seconds. It is also required to show proof to enter a venue.

The Vic one does it as well, but has never been made mandatory until now.

Queens birthday isn't this weekend it is next weekend (June 14th). So hopefully we will be open before then.

Reason I bring this up is both me and my mate thought Queens Birthday was this weekend.

What is puzzling me is the amount of confirmed cases compared to exposure sites seems very very low. Which makes me wonder we are testing in huge numbers but is everyone getting tested?

                  My experience...yes and no.

Work colleague has had a "cold" for a week. Guess if they've been tested. I'm certainly not the testing police, I've definitely encouraged it though.

Others do get done immediately including myself (had 3 so far).

I'd say it's 70/30? I don't get why people don't just get tested, it's quick and painless albeit mildly uncomfortable

Five cases, plus 6 more after midnight.

So 11 cases now being reported by Govt.

Apparently the people working in aged care are working at multiple sites. I thought we stopped that last year after the 1st lockdown.

We stopped Guards working in multiple jobs in Hotel Q

Aged Care workers are in private industry and under the control of Feds.

Criminally under resourced industry. Good to see funding in latest Federal budget.

There are also state managed facilities, mainly in the regions but majority not.

Those owners of aged care facilities are raking the money in.

Yes, and unfortunately I'd heard a bit of information that suggested the most likely or least hopeful outcome would be after the QBW and that was at the start of this lockdown prior to today's news.
