Re: Coronavirus Info & Helpful Direction

It's frustrating that rapid-testing has not been adopted as a layer on top of lab testing, like it has in the UK.
Rapid testing misses some cases but so do PRC tests.
Together they work well. Lab testing by itself is too slow.
I wonder if the virus will end up permanently damaging crowd numbers in AFL.
People might figure it's just not worth the risk.

Agreed. We will never get on top of it until there is a better push towards getting everyone vaccinated.

This is why you don't bring ideology into public health responses. It's why you don't say you can see "green shoots" as fruits of effort when there are none. The virus couldn't care less about ideological leanings or biases.

NSW ministers are reportedly already talking about accepting circulation within the community, like they've forgotten what exponential growth actually means. We only know the Delta variant is more transmissible, we're not sure about how severe it is but there's word spreading that it's not so bad.........but one study suggests hospitalisation is 85% more prevalent with this variant:

One study from Scotland, where the Delta variant is predominating, found Delta cases led to 85% higher hospital admissions than other strains. Most of these cases, however, were unvaccinated.

The Sydney situation concerns me deeply given our poor vaccination roll-out/ take-up levels. Please don't let this circulate. Please take the medicine by seeing it off, we don't have the service or infrastructure capacity to deal with it.

Yeah and with other countries being mostly vaccinated it's hard to use studies from other countries and apply it to here

Missed the first quarter today as I was getting Pfizer dose #1.
Somewhat wishing I’d had an adverse reaction that would have stopped me from attending. Instead I rushed there, showing more urgency than quite a few members of our team.

Looks like Highpoint, Craigieburn and MCG are again exposure sites.

If Vic shuts down, then we take our bats and balls and all go home.

Or, the the H&A season now. With just 8 teams heading to one state.

I wouldn't be surprised if Victoria is in lockdown by next week.

I'd get up there ASAP before QLD closes the border. You shouldn't have any issues getting back.
