Re: Recent CDs bought & your reviews
Probably the wrong thread but no mention of Mastodon in the gigs one - BDO side shows for Sydney & Melbourne announced, I'm definitely going to the Thurs 28 Jan @ The Palace gig. Blood Mountain is awesome 1eyedog, Colony of Birchmen & This Mortal Soil current favourites.Float Along - Fill Your LungsComment

Credit where it's due, he's giving the proceeds (if there are any!) to charity. Our club was born in blood and boots, not in AFL focus groups.Comment

Tumbleweed - Galactaphonic circa 95
This is a cracker of an album - I bought this via ebay, as it was the only place I could find it.
Somewhere between stoner, grunge with a touch of 90 Ozrock, this album is highly enjoyable and made specifically to play loud & loud only.
Opens with Hang Around, one of their better overall tracks. This was the album Ritchie started to show a bit of warble, and it shows on later tracks. "Always complain about the weather" is another favourite, whilst the next track (Armchair Ride) is worthy of a you-tube hunt - they open Hey Hey It's Saturday with it and the performance is available.
Overall I'm pumped these guys are playing Meredith and the album has been getting a few spins at Mofra central since I got it last weekWestern Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment

Tumbleweed albums are very hard to find. The occasional ebay purchase are the only real way to find them unless they start re-offering their albums at gigs (fingers crossed for Meredith)Western Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment

George Kamikawa - Blue to the Bone, saw this dude busking near Myer and thought I'd grab a copy of his CD because the guy was rocking pretty hard. Japanese bluesman, very skillful player.Time and Tide Waits For No ManComment

He's an old hand at busking but seems to be getting better every year. Wouldn;t be surprised to see a festival pick him up as a filler act.Western Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment

Them Crooked Vultures
I was a little dubious when I heard the line-up (not sure why, Grohl played drums on Songs for the Deaf, and JPJ...) but since listening to this a few times, I am in to it.
Especially the song 'Bandoliers', classic Queens in the 'Into the Fade' feel.Float Along - Fill Your LungsComment

Bad Lieutenant - Never Cry Another Tear
New Order finally broke up after 27 years or so, well, Peter Hook basist broke the band up after possibly spat number 12,756.
So New Order singer & guitarist Bernard Sumner, drummer Stephen Morris & guitarist Phil Cunningham have formed this new group Bad Lieutenant.
So dare i say, it's New Order without Hooky's signature bassline, probably compared more to their off side project of many years "Electronic", yet it still sounds very New Orderish, as it probably should.
How does it stack up? a bit Meh on first listen, a definate grower if it does, not instant, but some definate New Order signature tunes in there, Dynamo, Twist Of Fate & Falling trees could have easily fit on the final New Order record "Waiting For The Sirens Call".
A definate must for Joy Division / New Order fans, but i don't think they will be making any new friends with this release, not that it's bad, it just doesn't seem to have that one big song that might grab the goolies of some walker by, its a very consistant record, which would probably please New Order fans.
