Spoilers obviously:
Aside from maybe his wife, thoroughly unlikeable cast of characters. I get Redmayne wasn't meant to be a "good guy", but he was clearly meant to be the coolest character, but to me at least just came across as a huge loser. I like it when shows go for that meticulous and ruthless killer, but so much of his stuff was just sloppy and poorly thought through that i didn't really buy it, and he lacked the charm to pull off his non serial killer scenes. I assume this is based on the Jackal from the Bourne series (which i liked and read maybe 20 years ago) but he was no where near as competent as that Jackal, and aside from being an insanely good shot most of his plans were daft.
For example both his UDC plans were insane to think they would both work and allow him to get away with it. The theatre one relied on a careless lover (which was fine really), and maybe the most inept security team of all time. How they never thought to check in the obvious floor access space over the course of two days is crazy, then stationed barely anybody in a useful position during an event in a small theatre that didn't even have much floor space to cover is completely negligent. MI6 failing to identify him despite him using the exact same baseball cap "disguise" on his way out as an earlier crime, the insanity of only eating two bags of peanuts and some water over two days when he could have take any measure to better prepare himself (like he could have dropped off a whole roast in the building when his BF let him in), him choosing the shot location to be from what should have been the most populated area of the upper level (but mercifully wasn't), which also afforded him a worse angle than his hiding spot anyway, his exit from that theatre being stupid easy with the biggest hiccup being his bf recognising him, which didn't even matter apart from making us see how ruthless he was by killing him (a part of his personality they had to hammer home with about 20 brutal and often needless civilian deaths....like we get it, he'll do anything).
And then the swim UDC kill which was firstly and mostly the biggest display of security ineptitude ever seen on basically every front (I understand they may have been in on it, but even so), and a continuation of him making the most stupidly lucky sniper shots of all time, and then his getaway plan just being plain bad. No idea why he insisted on bringing that stupid gun with him, and if so not finding a better place to hide it. You're about to clear $50M and theoretically are getting out of the game anyway, ditch the gun, have a normal bag in your car so when you get stopped at a checkpoint you can just play dumb and get searched and waved through. Favourite bit was when the cop rolled out the tyre spikes, watched Redmayne avoid them relatively easily, despite being ready to didn't pull them back in until he watched his own cop car run over them, then immediately rushed to pull them back in so that Redmayne could make his exit.
His homelife was super depressing to watch too, just a series of scenes of him being a complete dick to Nurias family and at no point showing that they actually like eachother as a couple.
This paired with the completely unlikeable and unfun cop plot where the only competent member of the MI6 they put on the case basically spends the whole time ruining peoples lives (including her families), getting people needlessly killed, and having to do everything herself because either her superiors were working against her or her assistant was too thick and/or lazy to help, didn't really help.
My sisters tell me I am too picky with TV and Movies, and too harsh a judge. I just think so much media fails to put the last 10% of effort in to properly fix their scripts. I think if a show takes itself really seriously (as this one did) then it sets itself its own standard that it needs to execute. I don't think this show nailed it's "this guy is the most insanely good serial killer assassin you've ever seen" thing, and it's a show built around that so all his scenes need to be awe inspiring (think the opening killing was good enough at this). The other thing a show needs is to be enjoyable to watch, and a bunch of the most depressingly unlikeable people ever assembled who almost to a man deserve the worst to happen to them is my version of good tv.
Fyi I don't think it's a bad show as such, and can see why people like it. I'd probably say it sits between a 6 and 7, and gets credit for trying to be a 10, but i don't think it gets there and I did not really end up enjoying watching it try.
This would be a good time to try out the range of emoticons available to you on this new platform, I would suggest the vomit one or simply the thumbs down one would be appropriate choices to use on my post should you disagreeI should leave it alone but you're not right😂 1☕ 1Comment

Started watching Mr McMahon on Netfilx, have only watched the first part as i don't get much time to watch TV but was a fan of WWF back in the day as a teenager with the likes of Hulk, Bam Bam Bigalo, The Missing Link, Randy Savage, King Kong Bundy etc etc although completely lost interest when it became the WWE, maybe because i was more mature at that stage.....Looks like an interesting watch, the early days with Vince taking over from is old man to some very dodgy and disturbing outcomes later on.Comment

Soup I get what you're saying. I guess for nonsense concepts to come to life you need a little nonsense to make it happen.........
I'm not calling it a ten out of ten, most of what you say about the characters I align with.TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.Comment
