I'd like to see Warner have a go here. This version of David Warner - playing within himself, letting the game happen in front of him, giving too much respect to the bowler - isn't usually a recipe for runs. This is the best time to bat in the game, I'd like to see him given the license to take it on.

Cummins did say he wants to see the batters take them on.

I reckon it's player and situation dependent, but we're not in England where hanging around the crease is at least taking the shine off the ball and protecting the middle order, and he isn't a Steve Smith who seems to improve with time at the crease. This just feels like David Warner is a sitting duck and the only way he's been able to get out of it through his career is to throw caution to the wind.

Agreed. A quick fire 50, even 30 would be better than what feels like an inevitable dismissal coming soon.
I think Kasper was saying that the last time we went into a game with just one quick was in 98.
Against Bangladesh in 2017 we played Cummins, Lyon, O'Keefe and Agar, although Hilton Cartwright was in the side for some medium pace (and Glenn Maxwell).
It's worrying that Siraj has managed to hit Warner a couple of times on what's a pretty slow and placid pitch. He really needs to sharpen up his decision making - he's half wanting to play, half wanting to sway out of the way and is all over the shop.
This is fun Test cricket though - Ashwin has Khawaja trapped on the crease, Khawaja dances down to loft over mid-off for 6 and land a blow of his own, Ashwin responds with a quicker one that grips and beats Khawaja outside off-stump. Really high quality cricket and there's some good cat and mouse going on.

Do you think it's a lack of decisiveness on Warner's part or are his reflexes waning with age?

It looked like shot selection to me. He seemed to be picking up the ball but there was a lack of decisiveness in how he'd play it. To be fair to him, Siraj has a mean bouncer - he worried Khawaja with a good one as well.
Warner is an interesting one - he doesn't look 'bad' - I think his footwork and his hands still look pretty good, but he just nicks off. It's a bit different to someone like Ricky Ponting or Matthew Hayden who both looked cooked by the end. I think it's time to make the change, but I reckon a good portion of it with Warner is where he's at mentally.
I'm more sympathetic to Warner than most and would've liked him to hang them up at the end of the Aussie summer, but the bloke hasn't been out of the first few pages of the paper in 4 years (a lot of that his own fault), and it sounds like he's done with the 'Cricket Aus institution'. I do understand why he's done mentally - as he's said himself.
