It's actually such a bad deal I can't believe it. I hope we're talking to GC because clearly they have no idea...lets see who we can snag as well!

Agree on GC. It's a club where culture, work ethic, and competitiveness are irrelevant if you look like you've got talent, they'll probably be all over him.

The AFL should wind up Gold Coast. It's not an AFL club, it's a parody of what an AFL club would be run like if it was a sketch on Jimmy Fallon.

Relocate them to Tassie. Might need to lose the "Suns" name though.

They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I've never liked the compo system. It should be scrapped. It is flawed. Take the Frawley to Hawthorn scenario, for example. The third bottom team's player wants to move to the top team. He does. Top team gets him for free and subsequently wins third consecutive premiership.

The rest of the competition provides the compensation by providing Melbourne with an additional pick (pick 4). This means that the 4th bottom side gives up pick 4 for pick 5 (a 25% demotion of their pick) the 5th bottom side gives up pick 5 for pick 6 (a 20% devaluation of their pick) and so on.

Meanwhile, the top team's pick moves from 18 to 19 (which is only a 5.5% demotion of their pick - far less of an impost than a loss of pick 3 for pick 4). It's completely illogical and flawed. The compensation system therefore hits the lower clubs harder than the higher clubs. It's completely counter-intuitive! The polar-opposite of equalisation! Then there's the fact that first or second round compensation levels are decided arbitrarily somewhere in a back room!

In the NFL, a player cannot make a FA move to a higher placed team. Another sensible rule born out of trial and error by a body which has used the FA system for decades... It's just silly that we almost purposely play catch up with it! It's frustrating to watch!

Lachlan Henderson to Geelong for their 2016 1st round pick now official.

The Cats now have no first rounders in either 2015 or 2016.

When do we start the official confirmed trades thread? :-p

With the investment the cats are making, you would think they're expecting that to be pick 12-18. Blues will be hoping it all backfires terribly for the Cats. Could create interesting scenarios at the end of the year!

Carlton must be licking their lips at that deal. Henderson wasn't quite worth a 1st rounder. I would have thought somewhere around the 20 to 25 would have been a fairer value.

As it stands, I don't think Geelong can trade away their pick in the 2017 next year.

Yep. That's what is happening and said the same last wee. I'm hoping our club doesn't do it.

                            Dangerfield, Selwood and Henderson.

where will they finish next year? Big question.

If the Cats don't perform next year the Blues could very well get a top 10 pick in a stronger draft. The Casts should have asked for something else to come back.

What a crazy trade, every chance this could end up being a 4-8 pick next seaons.
