To be honest it was a poor effort by his manager but without GWS contacting Griffen first it was was more likely that this sort of deal would have been going down now not 12 months ago.

On discussion of two first rounders being too much fro Dixon, I think it highlights how broad a range of picks that specifies.

That could be picks 17 and 18, or it could be picks 1 and 2. The former is not overs for a key forward who should be coming into his prime. The latter obviously is. Surely when people nominate prices it should at least state whether they think he is worth two late first rounders, or one early first rounder etc.

Nominating a range of 18 picks + compensation picks is way to hard to ascertain what you actually think is fair value from.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

I was specifically referring to Port's two first rounders currently being 10 and probably somewhere between 9 and 16 next year. That's too much for a player who's shown outstanding form mixed with multiple injuries. Pick 10 plus a pick of around 30 next year is about the right mark.

When you use future picks you can't specify early or late.

Exactly. It's the natural position in line with where you finish. It can't be a traded pick.

Mike Pyke retired today. I wonder if Minson is on their radar?

I don't really buy it. A contracted guy that got offered more elsewhere and took it. I don't see much difference.

Sure. But the fact remains it happened. So the thing that some are decrying is the same thing we were celebrating then.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to be seen to be knocking anyone for expressing their opinion/having a discussion. I just think it's interesting how opinions differ depending on perspective.

They already traded for Sinclair knowing that Pyke was likely to retire.

Sure, but I still think they're a ruck short.

You're just trying to flog poor old Minson off to anybody that will have him aren't you?

Yeah I know. My point is some are lamenting it when it's happening elsewhere, but happy about it when it worked in our favour.

It's a correct observation without any criticism.
