It is a clean out and change of culture. The no dickheads policy should have been in place from the start. Rocket really flexing his muscle up there.

Either that, or the players don't want to be there.

Pretty much. Bennell was the only one they had a say in, the others wanted out. Smith was considered to be one of the better leaders at the club, Dixon too, although his drinking incident during the season wasn't a good example.

Matera and his yobbo mates are the ones that are wanting to stay. Big problems at GC.

In fairness to Dixon, it was wine before bed in a hotel room at an away game - certainly not out at a club on a bender. He had discussed wine before bed with the club doctor to help him sleep.

I think the poor guy copped a fair whack for a quite benign incident. Their problems are way worse than Dixon - by all accounts Ablett is a Cross-like freak with his preparation and is a lone hand at his level of professionalism at the club. At least Cross had Boyd/Morris etc who were training animals as well

That was the version that came out at first, but the tell tale bar tab they forgot to pay had a lot more than just a glass of wine on it. It was suggested Bennell was largely responsible for the substantial bill, but Dixon may not have been as innocent as was first claimed.

Either way Dixon was very much one of the non-dickheads at GC, unlike many of the ones who remain.

Don't think that applies to Smith - he was part of the GC's 'God Squad' along with GAJ, Aaron Hall and 1-2 others.

                    Confirmed:

Jeremy Howe off to the Pies in a deal which sends Jimmy Toumpas to Port, Ben Kennedy to Melbourne and Paul Seedsman to the Crows

Thats a pretty big '4 way meh' trade.

I agree. But what pick was Toumpass? Was he picked before stringer and macrae? Or was he in The Bonts year? Either way great recruiting from the Dees...

Yep. They have an amazing knack of stuffing high picks completely up.

This is a weird, deck-chairs-on-Titanic type trade. No one gets ripped off, but no one is really winning either.

I think Howe shows the most potential, then, I dunno, the Power's 2nd pick?

Yes Pick 4, followed by Stringer and Macrae.

When you consider Wines was exactly what they needed it makes the selection look even worse. They were crying out for a hard bodied ball winner and they instead chose a sort of midfielder kind of half back flanker neither of either really player.

We were extremely lucky GWS and Melbourne were selecting the top four the year we had 5 and 6. Effectively we got picks 2 and 3. Two ordinary outside midfielder types and a tall defender who's not big enough to defend before the real players got chosen .
