DOGS’ ‘GROWING CONFIDENCE’ IN SILVAGNI RACE
The Western Bulldogs are growing in confidence they could land Blues hybrid Jack Silvagni, despite Collingwood remaining the favourites.
While it’s believed the Magpies are still ahead in the race for Silvagni, the third-generation Blue has reportedly met with key Dogs officials, as the gap between them and the Pies to land his signature “is potentially closing”.

Silvagni, an unrestricted free agent this season, is canvassing his options despite having a four-year deal on the table from the Blues.
AFL Media’s Riley Beveridge reports “there’s confidence growing” at the Kennel regarding their pursuit of the forward-turned-defender.
“A big development with Jack Silvagni over the last week; he has now met with the Western Bulldogs, which is the third rival club he has met with,” Beveridge told Gettable.
“As we know, he met with Collingwood and ‘Fly’, Craig McRae was very open about that, he’s met with Brad Scott as he weighs up interest from Essendon, (and) he has now met with key and senior figures at the Western Bulldogs across the last week.

“I said last week I thought the Western Bulldogs were some way back in this mix — I think there’s confidence growing at the Bulldogs.
“I still think Collingwood has its nose in front, but I don’t think it’s as significant as it was maybe a week or two ago when he first met with Craig McRae and figures at Collingwood.
“I think that gap, now, is potentially closing, although if I was to call it, I still think Collingwood is the favourite.”
The Bulldogs’ key shortfall this season has been behind the ball, thus their pursuit of Silvagni would appear warranted. The Dogs have a 2-8 record against the top nine teams and rank eighth for points against.

He often plays as a tagger and Bevo isn't going to to play him in that role.

He's shown a bit this year but he's not an area of need and I doubt our stacked midfield would be attractive to him especially with Butters incoming.

This. Handy player but no. Let’s focus on Butters, small fwd and a key defender- hopefully Silvagni (Wilkie unlikely to move).

                    Some incredible offers for NWM.

Adelaide’s offer was $1.5-1.7 x 4 (they were prepared to offer longer if needed).

Port’s was 12 years at up to $2.5 million per season… As much as $30 million in total.

Surely if port were offering Nas 2.5mil a year that means they think or know Butters is on the way out?

It's a great results for the Saints and for Nas.
Most Saints players love Ross Lyon.
With TDK likey to come in and getting King back Saints fans will see a glimmer of hope.

A complete surprise. How many times had an uncontracted star player signed this late in the season?

Lake used to always sign after the end of the season didn't he?

                            Until he didn't...

If Port really offered that and he chose to stay at saints. Well that doesn't bode well for them.

To me it says he sees more upside at the saints.
I can agree with him , if port lose Butters they are going nowhere .
