Re: Jamarra and the Points System Strategy
Assuming Adelaide finish last I don't think it's a good idea to land the number 1 pick and basically hand it to us by bidding on him unless they think we aren't that committed and I don't believe that to be the case.
The Crows would lose the ability to market the player and sell it to their members that they have the best player in the competition
If I had a pick in the top 3 spots I wouldn't bid on JUH but I would most likely do it from about pick 4
You might be right but I wouldn't do it if I was in charge of the CrowsWestern Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Re: Jamarra and the Points System Strategy
We are going to select and match any bid on JUH no matter where he goes.

Re: Jamarra and the Points System Strategy
I don't know Gary. I think Adelaide could sell it quite easily, as just good Governance. "We always wanted (player name) but we all knew the Dog's were going to match the bid for JUH. As an organisation we needed to hold the Dogs, on this occasion, to account, and not allow them to get the consensus number 1 pick for less than market value."
If was the Crows I would hand that responsibility to the teams behind me on the draft night
I don't think fans want to hear that, they want to know we have landed the player we think is the best regardless if that is true or notWestern Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Re: Jamarra and the Points System Strategy
That wouldn't upset me in the slightest if they make that decision. We will match the bid and have a massive membership push by marketing the number one player heading our way

Re: Jamarra and the Points System Strategy
I might be on my own here but from a Bulldogs perspective I would just pay whatever it costs to pick him up and I would think we have done well to get that done
I understand the advantage of getting him with a bit of a discount but you should be prepared to pay for qualityWestern Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Re: Jamarra and the Points System Strategy
Adelaide's position on JUH may be determined by whether they receive a band 1 compensation pick should they lose Brad Crouch which looks a distinct possibility. They could end up with picks 1 & 2.
If they like local boy Thilthorpe I think they might just pick him at 1 for the marketability reasons GVG points out and then place a bid on JUH at 2. The Crows stink at the moment and they do need to sell untainted hope to their parochial fan base.Listening to Brahm's 3rd RacketComment

The Crow's could do that and to me it would make sense but....

They should go for 2 local boys or see what they can do to get either Lukosius or Rankine from the SunsWestern Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Re: Jamarra and the Points System Strategy
There's no way known Brad Crouch is worth pick 2 but the question becomes is he worth band 1 compo? I think a team like Essendon who need his type of player would pay band 1 type money for him. It'll be interesting but for me I'm not worried at all. We take JUH no matter what the cost and be content we have a generational talent on our list. It's a good draft to sacrifice points/picks given that the quality of talent will be largely speculative given there will be so few (if not zero) games to judge performances.Comment

Re: Jamarra and the Points System Strategy
That will be determined by a decent offer coming in from another club (Gold Coast were keen last year) and the AFL's attitude. Probably more likely end of 1st round but the AFL make these things up as they go depending on who they want up the ladder. Crows would fit that category I would think.
Everyone should be angry if they did get such high compensation having just played in a Grand Final just 3 years ago.
Strangely the Suns seem a better prospect for the two SA boys at the moment.Listening to Brahm's 3rd RacketComment

Re: Jamarra and the Points System Strategy
If I had a gut feel, and talking to some Crows supporter mates they have the same, it's that Lukosius might be the most gettable. Hasn't hit any great heights (granted a young big guy), playing a new role in defence... he's the one I think they'll have a red hot crack at.
Can sell him as the great white hope, future Tex replacement. If the Suns are still keen on Crouch then that could be something they'd push. Not something I'd entertain if I was the Suns however.
I note he re-signed until 2022 but that's means not much nowadays.BT COME BACK!

They have a couple of second rounders this year ut don't think they've got any need for them as Edwards' son has knocked them back as a FS prospect.Western Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment

Personally I think Luko is doing well, his kicking is sublime for a big man. He's just got a good football brain.Western Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment
