Why is it optimistic? If things go well, Darcy will have more than 18 games by the end of 2024. In terms of talent, Darcy is easily better than Cameron.

The kid didn't even play full time ruck as a junior. He's firmly in the 'developing' pile right now and has impressed far more as a forward than when chopping out in the ruck.

We're arguably thinner than every other club on ruck depth in 2023 - if English walks, there's no way I'd be happy with us not bothering to grab a ruck at the trade table.

It's one persons comments on two players. It's not a player commenting on another player.

Apologies for any confusion. That's 2 separate sentences poorly worded. Baz supposedly out the door, hawks likely.
JUH contract not a done deal like some thought, still work to do and sounds based upon team performance as well as big $.

This information came from an ITK poster on bigfooty with a very solid track record, so the last comment regarding that coming from someone close to or involved with contracts won't be a stretch.

Concerning regarding JUH. We've likely got teams offering him enormous godfather contracts, so we really need to perform well this year to keep him wanting to stay for success as well as coming close to matching contracts.

I don’t believe the big footy seriously that dude said Bailey smith was singing a 2 year contract then he changes it to Bailey smith is likely to go to the hawks

I’m of the opinion it’s too early for anything except a player re-signing.
If anything I think smith would be the most likely to leave.
JUH has been under Bont since before he even got to the club.
I just get the feeling JUH is loyal and as long as we make a reasonable offer he will stay .
About seeing how the season goes makes sense, it’s a season that could be massive but could also be a complete meltdown.

If we lose both we probably will have the top 5 draft picks !

It's your right to be sceptical, you don't have to believe the information. I'm just passing it on for the sake of starting the conversation here. The poster Smiley has a very strong record of good information, so there'll certainly be elements of truth to it even if it's not carved in stone. That's the nature of contract talks unfortunately, minds change quick, so while Bailey may have been staying last month, this month the information is he's leaving. We shouldn't discredit those with inside knowledge for these reasons exactly.

I did find a comment from Bont in a news interview interesting a few days ago. He said that he won't discuss any contract stuff with any of Baz, English or Mara.
While I understand, I'd sort of hoped that he'd use his influence a little to chat long term plans with Mara etc. as a way of swaying his decision towards stay. Not sure what everyone else's thoughts on this are, but it just stuck out with me that our captain isn't actively in our star players ears about hanging around and building something special on the way to a flag.

Let's think about this logically.

In order for this Smiley character to have that sort of information about Bailey, he would have to have been told through a player manager, either directly or indirectly, or by Smith or by one of Smiths family/friends.

I find it highly non-probable in the middle of negotiations, the player manager would say anything. As for Smith - well has he said to his mates, I am leaving to go to Hawks???

I really doubt it.

On JUH, yeah, a player manager may have been asked how is it going and he could say, still a few things to work on.

I call BS on Smiley. , someone has told him porkies. (IMHO)
