Re: 2024 Draft Watch
Richmond has multiple early draft picks this year in something we haven't really ever seen before.
8 picks in total so far and all of them before our 2nd pick in the draft with picks 1, 6, 10, 11, 18, 20, 23 and 24
There is even talk of them offering North some picks so that they can snare #2.
Surely they can't bring in 8 younger players all at the same time? I mean it's possible and it's a strong draft but that is a huge bite in the development requirements to try and manage. I suspect the Tigers will try and package 3 picks this year to either secure another one of the early selections this year or to build something additional into next year so that the space out the incoming talent.
List wise they need a bit of everything midfielders, forwards and defenders and probably some help in the ruck.
With that in mind, does Sam Lalor make the most sense for them at pick 1? He's a combo big bodied and explosive midfielder/forward.
If they pass up on O'Sullivan or Smith then there are still some very similar types that could still be available at 6, 10 and 11
If they pass up Lalor though well there is not really another player like him based on my limited vision.
The Tigers recruiting manager must be like a kid in a candy store given how cashed up they will be in the first 30 picks.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

It generally doesn't work well, based on recent history - Melbourne and GWS ended up bringing in 'role models' from other clubs to develop the kids properlyWestern Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment

Richmond will have so many top end picks if they don't trade some of them.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment
