I feel like he's quite 'balanced' on his feet, if that's a thing.

        Re: 2024 Draft Watch

Do we think we have our future first on offer while the likes of Xavier Lindsay, Joe Berry, Taj Hotton are still available? Hard to see anyone taking us up on it anyway.

Really like our hand regardless. Many teams around our first two picks will be looking for talls.

I might be biased because I boarded at St Pats too, but I really hope we get Ollie Hannaford. He was a beast in the Coates league final.

With our other top 2 pick, I don?t think I?d be disappointed with Cooper Hynes, Harry Oliver, Christian Moraes or Jesse Dattoli.

The third and fourth pick, still a lot of good types around, I hope we get 2 like; Jasper Alger, Sam Toner, Angus Clarke, Sam Davidson, Lachie Jacques, Clancy Dennis.

Really want at least one player capable of kicking bags of goals, one who can be a gut runner on a wing and one speedy defender who can win one on ones

While things might change it's doubtful that clubs other than North and Richmond will consider offers for their first round selections.
I'd be intrigued at how far we could potentially move up the order by adding our F1 if things were to change.
There would be a lot of scrutiny on us if there was effectively a Bailey Smith and F1 for an upgraded pick this year.

I've got a mate in WA who speaks glowingly of Will Hayes. I don't think I've read anything on here about him or seen his name in phantom drafts.
How did he test and would he be a chance for us?

High speed & high endurance. I'd like to know a bit more about his kicking though.

Might be a little coloured by the 'WA is crap this year' talk, especially considering a lot of people think WA's crop next year shapes as one of their best.

When I get home I'll post his combine results. From memory they were impressive.
There are a couple of highlights available on YT.

Yes, he's got some excellent athletic traits plus quick hands. There is a bit there to like.

                          He's clever that's for sure.

He is so small...he genuinely looks like he is 12 years old. It's kind of hard to judge him really as he has always been at Claremont and always been so small but he is smart and 100% knows where to run to get on the end of it...I would say his most elite skill is his ability to simply read the play/see what's happening before others...he sees it like an experienced player to the point that if you're watching from an elevated position and watching play unfold, you can almost see that he is seeing things differently (and running/reacting to that) before anyone else.

He's a talent that's for sure...in terms of comparisons (if you want to stick WA based) he kind of reminds me of a Dean Kemp 'type' of player....this bloke who is slighter than everyone else and just seems like he should be playing in the little league game but just keeps getting the ball...

Is that glowing praise? I don't know. In terms of physical presence though you'd really have to wonder...then again, he's been making it work throughout so I'm sure he is capable...
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

My counter was that we can always find 'valid' reasons not to draft some players especially ones outside of the normal strength of a top 10/15.
My only comment with Davis was that post champs he went and played senior footy and the kid who seemed to have issues sticking his head over the footy in the 18's suddenly seemed to 'understand' and began impacting on senior games (and senior finals). His game against EF was no joke and if post champs 'improvement' is a signpost then he flew past it.

I didn't mention what the players weighed in at as it's now a bit of a touchy subject with the AFL but while he is light, we have seen a lot of players like him in the past and they often just need to add enough size and muscle and clubs are good at helping them achieve that.
Currently he has that Farren Ray type runners build.
He was invited to the National Combine so there must be a couple of clubs interested.
Hayes is not much of a risk with a later selection in my opinion as I'd imagine there is a fair bit of upside.
Hayes running power is impressive and as you say he has an ability to get out on his own and link up with his team mates.

I'm not big on the draft prospects but what I've really liked reading about here are the names being shared aren't being mentioned in other discussions.
