Re: Minister of Trades

Not to mention he is a very good player when he doesn't have the ball. Forward pressure is his big upside."Loves a scrap....oh yeah & he's a pretty handy footballer as well"Comment

Re: Minister of Trades

Agreed. As long as we don't end up with Alwyn Davey as the small forward. Sure he is quick and can tackle...but have you ever seen him pick up the ball in one go? He fumbles more than the great Nathan Eagleton would in a big game (sorry eagle!). Davey can't play - we can do better than him.I'm with Ozza on this one.

Will be 27 in 2011 and is he as quick as he once was due to his knee reco?

If he changes his mindset to kick goals will he then lose his defensive instinct?More of an In Bruges guy?Comment

Re: Minister of Trades

I watched him live 11 or 12 times this year, he's as quick as anyone going around.

It's not so much changing his mindset from defence to attack, it's just not looking to give the ball off when he's 30m out and in the clear. I think with a better coach, and a more consistent structure and gameplan from the MC, he could be a 30-40 goal a year small forward who will chase and tackle strongly. I don't think anyone at Essendon really knew what their role was this year.Western Bulldogs: We exist to win premiershipsComment

Re: Minister of Trades

I didn't realize he was 27.

Given that, I'd probably pass on Davey (unless he came ridiculously cheap).

There are better (and younger) options around.

Yep - I'd do it.

It'd be a good trade for both clubs IMO.W00F!Comment

Re: Minister of Trades

I personally would be more than happy to acquire nathan djerkurra in the trade period if we can get him relatively cheaply. He is a tough player, has a good attack on the ball and an appetite for the contest, as shown in his three games for Geelong in 2009 in which he averaged 5 tackles a game. He could also be used as part of our midfield rotation as that is a growing need these days.

Just regarding Will Minson, where do you think he would rate as opposed to other ruckmen requesting a trade this year, such as Mark Blake, Trent West, Sam jacobs and the like? I personally would prefer will over most bar Jacobs.Comment

Re: Minister of Trades

He has also a good reputation in the VFL for providing defensive pressure. I think I read somewhere that he put in a 9 tackle performance in one game.I personally would be more than happy to acquire nathan djerkurra in the trade period if we can get him relatively cheaply. If he comes cheaply we might be able to turn him into a regular contributor.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment
