Re: Dogs Keen on Jack Martin in Mini Draft

Sorry if this has been covered, or if it seems like a silly question, but if we draft Martin does he occupy a spot on the list, given he is not allowed to play until 2014? Surely he shouldn't be occupying a spot on the main list if he is not allowed to play...

Not a silly question. My understanding is that it doesn't effect our 2013 list in any way but we will need to find a spot on our list for this pre selection in 2014 and will count as one of our 3 mandatory draft selections for that year.

Apparently jack Macrae is meeting Jason McCartney tonight.

I'm fairly sure Brad Crouch counted on Adelaide's list this year

            That's not right.

Crouch and O'Meara are pre-listed for their respective clubs and a player needs to be delisted for them to be elevated.

My expectation was that he would count, because I had a feeling that Crouch counted (as Sockeye also said). But I don't think that he should be counted.

FWIW, whether or not he's on the list I fully endorse moves to get him. I think the idea of 5+6 for MD1+9 is a win-win, but GWS lose to the Tigers on the other part of the trade. Sounds like an elite talent, will be better than what we will get at 5 or 6...give it a real go!

Along with Viney, he's one of a bunch of Carey Grammar boys available in this year's draft and he's not lacking in confidence. A couple of months back I can recall him saying, when asked the question, that Stevie J is the AFL player he most resembles or fashions is play on.

They all get told to talk themselves up. You will hear all of them compare themselves to existing stars

Would rather just give pick 6 to GWS for Martin in the MD and be done with it.. Dont know why we are giving both picks and downgrading to Pick 9 just to help Richmond get Tyson.. They can gtfo and go after Tyson on there own without us

Obviously GWS do not feel that Pick 6 is enough.

Yet Richmond believe pick 9 is enough for Tyson.
I think the point is we shouldn't have to get Richmond involved if they aren't prepared to give and take equally.

And our picks 5 and 6 become even more valuable if Gold Coast nominate Viney and Melbourne burn pick 3 to take him.

After reading repeated reports on Martin, I would very much be happy to trade one of our first rounders for him. Hopefully pick 5/6 will be enough to satisfy GWS.

With our remaining first rounder, Gartlett would be a my preference. The idea of some silky skilled players moving into our midfield excites me a lot and would compliment our young and tough on ball brigade enormously.

Wonder if pick 5 and a player would do it? Sherman perhaps? Grant?
