I kind of get Clarke's point about Gerard's playing credentials though. It's easy to snipe from the cheap seats, but when you're following in the impossible footsteps of a golden age of Australian cricketers, the pressure to push the envelope and eek out any advantage must be immense. I don't condone cheating, but I understand the mindset that proceeded it.

Understand that some would have been fans of KB - but for me, it was getting pretty stale, so I can't say I'm too bothered personally.

No surprise that Robbo is 'breaking' the story - since he is dirty on SEN himself, and doesn't get along with any of the key people there with the exception of Whately.

KB has consistently rated higher than most other past and present hosts on SEN. The mid morning ratings in particular have completely fallen off a cliff since Whateley took over from KB last year.

KB is not fashionable but he understands radio craft and especially his audience, which is in stark contrast to some of the other arrogant and condescending hosts in other timeslots.

The time had come for KB and SEN to part ways I reckon. I enjoyed him in the mornings because it was a good fit but him and the Doc (who constantly dragged KB down to his level, I don't know what KB's fascination with him was) fell right over the cliff.


I understand that KB and Hutchinson didn't get along.

Yep, there is a different between Doc coming on as a guest for an our once or twice a week and having him there for the duration of the programme.

Even on Punter to Punter Doc was the fourth wheel of a three wheel act. I'd much prefer listening to Con or Slim or Trevor for the afternoon.

Yeah I fear for KB.

I don't think this is his time slot, I think a move to midday would have been better. The constant interjections of DR Turf make it almost untenable for me! They don't work as a combo, maybe for a 1 hour segment, but not full time. It's basically grumpy old men.

I'm getting towards 60 and Dr Turf has been getting on my tits sine I was 21. I can remember his pool room (the Green Cloth in Richmond) and he was about as funny as a fart in a spacesuit then.
