That's a shame for mine. I liked Mark Fine and he had lots of interesting spots.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

There was always a big gap between his best and worst but I didn't mind listening to Finey. He might struggle to find another home like he had at SEN

That's a surprise. Thought Hutchy didn't mind him.

Someone mentioned to me that it's about the revenue each program can bring in. Perhaps Finey struggles with attracting the sponsors.

            Re: SEN new line-up

CROCMEDIA boss Craig Hutchison has looked after one of his own with Jack Heverin to replace Mark Fine as SEN’s evenings host.

Heverin has been with CrocMedia since 2012 and impressed as a host and caller, even filling in for Hutchison on his show ‘Off The Bench’.

Fine was fired on Monday after 13 years at the sports station.

The evening program will be renamed ‘The Sporting Capital’ with a push to incorporate more live sport in the 7pm to midnight time slot.

“I am excited to be part of the new-look SEN and bring listeners a hybrid show that features live action which I can’t wait to call, as well as everything else that’s happened that day or drops that night when we’re on air,” Heverin said.

“We could be calling live from the NBL or A-League, or back at SEN headquarters. We’ll be where the action is.”

Fine, who hosted the 7pm to midnight shift, as well as a program after the footy and on Sunday mornings, was philosophical today.

“I wouldn’t have an ego if I didn’t think it was the wrong call, but I respect their right to make the decision,” he told the Herald Sun.

“I’m looking forward to the next challenge.”

Fine developed a cult following for his “Evenings With Finey” show.

Decent replacement for Finey. I hope Finey bobs up somewhere.

I agree that Finey leaving is a shame. Worked bloody hard for SEN all those years in what was, to be truthful, a shitful timeslot.

I just hope that that annoying F***wit Stephen J Peake isn't on the cards for the new lineup.

I'd even gotten to the stage where bloody Peake wasn't annoying me enough to switch off. I had almost gotten used to him (almost)

Can anyone else see a massive cluster *!*!*!*! coming Crocmedia's way here?

If they're not careful they've alienated a lot of listeners, if they've calculated the outcome properly it might work out. I wouldn't be putting money into them share wise right now.
                    TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

I thought Fine was awful in the evening time slot, although I didn't mind his post game analysis at times

The station badly needed freshening up

I can understand that they have likely put some listeners' noses out of joint. But personally I'm a fan of the changes, and I might start listening more than I have been. Ox put me off listening in the afternoons, and I wasn't keen on Finey either - think he'd just been there too long and I was over hearing him.

I'm pleased with the freshen up they are going with.

I can see them putting their base's nose out of joint and them not getting a listenership to replace them. Certainly that could happen.

I didn't mind Finey back in the day but it was time for SEN to move him on. The years had obviously worn him down and he'd become pretty belligerent towards callers. It's hard dealing with so many nuff nuff callers but he got to the point he'd yell at and then cut off anyone he disagreed with.

the problem with Fine in my view was that he attracted the nuff nuff callers. It was low IQ radio and horrible at times to listen to. I always referred to him as the Bogan King.

Acquiring genuine journalistic talent in Whateley & Connelly will help give the station some credibility. I'd rather these guys ask the hard questions than say The Ox. I'd like to see Hudson more involved and even Mike Sheahan if he would be interested.

Yep agree with all of that, except for the Connolly bit. He's always pushing a personal agenda, whether it be Essendon or politics, and I can firmly leave him. I'm a fan of Hudson and Whately in particular and would like to see them pair together on AFL360, but the unwashed masses would complain about it being a Poindexter program.
