Dal Santo is a terrible media talent but I bet the 9am-12pm ratings will once again plummet next week when Whateley returns.

I recall trade radio especially tedious, however, given the have no vision to work with it’s probably a tough gig to make it interesting......

What's everyone's take on Whateley and Clarke's feud this week?

Whateley has overstepped his mark here. He can have a personal gripe with someone but as an impartial commentator he has to be better.

I don't think it has reflected particularly well on either of them.

Whateley went way too far but Clarke massively overreacted.

I dislike Clarke but I think Whateley was drawing a long bow with his comments

At least he was prepared to cop his whack from the listeners and he didn't interrupt them

Ridiculously overblown hot take by Whateley in a desperate attempt to try and improve pitiful ratings. At least it stopped him talking about 18m goal squares for a while.

If anyone doesn’t think Whateley is a shock jock with better vocabulary, yesterday is a reminder that he is nothing more than that these days.

He’s a good sports caller and needs to focus on that alone. He has no feel whatsoever for commercial talk-back - it was a strange fit from day 1 and it has proven to be a ratings flop. Hutchy is a smart cookie and will realise that Whateley is talk-back ratings poison and adjust his role accordingly in 2019.

I don't think it's quite worked for him on SEN but I think some of his interviewing is very good and that should be his focus. He is probably forced into going after stories a bit harder than he should or making his position on issues known but I can't come close to agreeing he has a shock jock style about him.

He should have tried to get Clarke on his show before having this thrashed out in tweets or statements between the two of them.
He would of had to modify his approach and it could have well been a compelling interview. As it is now it's probably lost the chance to have been genuinely debated.

I think Whateley has come up a bit short of my expectations since he arrived at SEN but I just can't see him as a shock jock.

When you guys mention "Clarke" are you talking about Michael Clarke?

Ive been listening to Jon Faine lately.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Some of his interviews are outstanding. I could listen to him just interview Nathan Buckley for an entire show. He just has no feel for talkback.

Does Clarke have an arrangement with Macquarie Radio? That may have precluded an interview.

I only listen to Whateley on SEN
I tend to agree with others though that he’s probably a bit highbrow for most of their talkback audience and SMS content
Clarke fell for the boringly predictable questioning of Gerard’s cricket credentials.
One could question what media grounding Clarke had to be in the media ?Bit of handbags at 10 paces

My biggest pet hate when former athletes go after journos and interviewers.
