What is the consensus on Ozark? I watched the first two seasons but didn’t bother with anymore. Wondering if I should revisit.

Good, financial things hard to follow, uncompromising with character deletions, reasonably satisfying denouement with one exception.

Infinitely better that a lot of the dross on tv/streaming but I could also see how people drift away from it.

I think most of us watching TV shows are looking for someone to cheer for and shows like Ozark deliberately make their characters unlikeable and so it's hard to stay interested sometimes.

It's filler, but entertaining filler. Like a lot of these types of shows the person who clearly needs to be shot in the face isn't shot in the face quickly enough, but that's just how it is I guess.

At least it has a storyline that always had a point to it, unlike Yellowstone which is also filler but in I don't know how many seasons actually hasn't demonstrated a single point to justify its existence.

Oh and one other thing about Ozark that really annoyed me - why did the wiliest most canny character in the whole show choose the "Prometheus method of running away from things" at the end?

I reckon I will give it another go. EW, I didn't find it confusing or hard to follow as such, just didn't grab me.

One of the hardest things for writers/directors to do is how to end movies or TV shows.

It’s not I didn’t like it was more my better half didn’t love it.

It’s one I will need to watch by myself which is tough a tough sell when I hog the tv during footy season!

Bad Sisters, the most enjoyable show I've watched for ages. Irish production adapted from a Belgian original, five sisters trying to murder the unspeakably vile husband of one of them, dark and funny and a killer soundtrack, too. Apple TV.

Yeah, I enjoyed it. More good filler but I enjoyed season one. Feels like a show that knows what it is and the cast did well, loved Murray Bennett.

I have stated The Man in the High Castle. It's based on a dystopian novel imagining a world if the Nazis/Japan won WWII. I had not heard of it before. Started in 2015, finished up in 2019. I like it but I am a fan the dystopian premise.

Was a handy off-spinner for Australia during the doldrum years of 1984-86.

I watched the Man In The High Castle avidly when it was on.
I really liked it but would not be for everyone.

Ha, I was going to say something similar. Trump, life in general for PoC, women, LGBTIQ+ community et al. I think it's dystopian genre can only really apply to those who are white middle class IRL.

The Man in the High Castle was excellent, and they did really well to adapt it beyond the confines of where the book finished.
