G they have so much security. There is no way you can stop a crowd if they decide to go.

This is an organised invasion from the North End I would assume at the 20th minute when they said they'd protest.
To assault a player.... This is football in this country. As soon as they take a step forward. Gone.

I can't see the league coming back from this.

Fines for invading the pitch, court cases and lifetimes bans from all sporting arena's should be the starting point.
I agree it's going to be hard to counter this but it will over time.

Victory needs to wear a severe penalty. Punishing the individual isn't enough in this case and yes, I get that it's a minority, but it isn't the first time this fan base has had issues.

Agree with charging, fining and banning the individuals but this has the potential to bring the sport to its knees. Victory almost need to volunteer for punishment to try and generate SOME kind of goodwill publicity for the game.

Horrible. Been a terrible week for the sport and somehow a bunch of complete f*ckheads find a way to escalate and make it all about them again.

So many good people are so invested in this sport and it is so hard to just keep going and going when on almost every front the league keeps failing them. It's exhausting and I don't know if the league can overcome this shitstorm on top of everything they have already screwed up.

5) Don’t pick up flares and throw them back into the crowd (he didn’t mean to throw it into the crowd I think, just get it off the actual pitch and behind the advertising boards)

I've been with these guys in the past, they destroy the seats, steal food, throw beer at staff...
Take away these north end guys who bring "atmosphere" and its a good supporter base.
90 percent good people at the games.
There's a rotating batch of 15-20 year olds in the north end that are responsible for all of this insanity.

There's been a real wanker element to the Victory crowd for as long as I can remember. And now it's time to ban the club from competition for the remainder of the season or longer, deduct all points, have them play in neutral colours and not in front of crowds or something, whatever. It's just unacceptable.

*I really don't, but he and his ilk are going to have a field day.

Thank God we got rid of all those violent ethnic NSL clubs when the A-League was formed.

Not sure there is a sport with a better propensity to shoot itself in the foot, whether it be incompetent administrators or violent thugs (they aren't fans). And a word on Glover - it was obviously horrible, completely unacceptable and inexcusable what happened to him, and the perpetrators need to face full criminal action (life bans are a bare minimum), but throwing a live flare into a crowd was an act of utter stupidity at best and very dangerous at worst.

I really don't know how the A League can fix this but a small portion of the crowd went in looking for trouble and then acted it out.
By all means ban them, fine them and get who you can on assault charges but players need to be protected like any work place would insist on. I just hope the sport isn't crucified by the moronic and criminal acts of a few.
