 Re: A League

What a DH he is for doing that. The game should have been stopped as soon as any flares were set off, and the perpetrators thrown out. That is how you deal with it. The authorities are failing to weed out these people bringing in the flares.FFC: Established 1883

I think he was trying to clear it back to the guys who put them out and over cooked it.
Maybe don't bring them to the game.BT COME BACK! Comment

Maybe? Surely they are banned. How the hell do they get the flares into the game. Before the main incident, a Network 10 camera man was hit with a flare.FFC: Established 1883

 Re: A League

Well it is time that every flare that goes off, the game is stopped. If they can't find the person that let it off, then the whole section is kicked out. People will start dobbing these people in and soon it will be stopped.FFC: Established 1883

 Re: A League

I took my nephew for his first game earlier this season at AAMI v WSW. We were close to their away supporter end and they let off flares constantly.
It was blowing right in our faces and I ended up covering his mouth with a scarf. His eyes were stinging as were mine it's crazy I hate them.Last edited by Grantysghost; 18-12-2022, 01:20 PM.BT COME BACK! Comment

Name & shame. Life bans to the perpetrators. Up to security to never let these morons in again. Slowly but surely bring the game back to the 90% to 95% good people.Comment

 Re: A League

Years ago I worked with a guy who entered Crown casino with a bunch of friends. Two of the 6 of them started playing poker on the tables and they got caught cheating so the lot of them, even the ones a long way back from the poker tables got a life time ban and were escorted off the premises. About 8 years later my colleague was with other friends and walked through the section with the poker machines. He barely made it 50 mtrs in before security came and escorted him out of Crown again.

The technology is there to make sure bans from all of our major sporting venues can be managed and enforced.
If you get caught bringing in flares or invade the playing ground, assault a player or an official etc then a lifetime ban from the AFL, A League, Tennis, Cricket and the Commonwealth or Olympic games, concerts etc is a heavy price to pay along with whatever fines and police charges that can be drummed up should be a powerful deterrent.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

 Re: A League

One thing that struck me is how bad security is at our major events. Obviously in this situation there were overwhelming numbers, but I feel the security staff are generally poorly trained and not invested in their role (not alone there compared to other industries).

The security checks as you enter a stadium are pathetic. You could take in whatever you wanted without any major effort to hide it, and nobody would know.

A friend was saying that in the UK a ban from football means you have to report to the local cops on match days, and your passport is not valid for the week before international matches. They're extreme measures but if youve earned a ban, then the punishment seems reasonable.Comment
