Pretty sure this was reported as being over 2 years.. Good deal for GC if they can get it through.

Massive overs for Dixon - very good result for GC if they can pull it off.

He's certainly not worth 2 x first round picks.

I don't agree on this one.

2 first round draft picks would be pick 10 this year, and most probably lower than (ie. later than pick 10) the following year.
If Dixon stays on the park, he is an outstanding player, and absolutely what Port need.
Looks a fair exchange to me.

There are big 'IF's' in draft picks also. But Dixon's history would suggest, that when he gets continuity in his game - he is an excellent footballer. There aren't heaps of 200cm players that move well, kick goals and can ruck - going around.

You rate Dixon's playing ability far more than I do. He has achieved very little in his career to date, and I'm not sure he has much more improvement left in him to be honest. Plus he is off the park a little too often for my liking, especially if you're going to give up 2 1st rounders in 2 consecutive drafts. Agree wholeheartedly that Port do need his 'type', but I'm just not sure that he will deliver on-field to the level that they will be expecting.

Sockeye once called him a potato - I have him above that level but by no means worthy of 2 x 1st rounders.

                      That's a great idea
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

Hawthorn have 2 first round picks.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Kicked 41 goals in 16 games this season in a poor side, and at least a couple of those games he had to be subbed out due to injury.
In the previous season when he got a continuous run of 8 games, he delivered 21 goals.
He is also, in a sense, competing with Tom Lynch as the primary target - yes, this also means that he probably gets the 2nd defender sometimes - but I think in Port's side he will be a good focal point for them.
At 25 years of age now, he is coming into his peak over the next few years - and I think he has heaps of ability.

I guess we'll see how he goes.

I think two first rounders is too much, but I think a first and a second is reasonable if he's going to fill a hole in a team you think can win the premiership. He's injured a bit often for my liking as well, but when he is fit he is outstanding. I actually think he's better than Lynch when both are on form.

Also I'm not sure I'd consider Sockeye an strong example of judging developing talent- basically everyone is shit until they prove they're not.

I tend to think that is a more reasonable approach. Port would have to pay a premium for potential.
Perhaps we could help them in this regard.
