While I understand that Brisbane need to strengthen their list pick 21 for Bell even getting back 41 isn't a great deal.
Still they have other needs but I think Carlton would now package up some picks for deals with GWS.

Surely Talia has some 2nd round value if Bell has.

Couldn't agree more. Not only is it an average deal, it stinks of needy to get to mediocrity ASAP over long term building.

Bell is a little underrated in the footy community for mine - reckon that is a pretty fair price for someone still yet to enter their prime and who has improved every season since he started. He is basically what Lin Jong will hopefully end up like for us.

But at Pick 21 even allowing for a 3rd round pick coming back it's a premium price even allowing that Bell is a decent and big bodied midfielder.

I think you are underselling them a bit. I don't mind either player and it's only for a 3rd round pick next year.

The Cats have a lot of players departing and nothing early in terms of draft picks to replace them.

They're stocking up on mid to lower level players, while at the same losing gluts of first round pick players each year. They need to go to the draft. Surely we are the example of taking Geelong fringe players not working. Add in pick 21 for Bell and you have to wonder the motive of the Brisbane list manager.

They're topping up on players that really want to make it and won't be looking for a return anytime soon. They have placed their future in acquiring the best academy players.

Looking at the Bell trade with the exchange of picks, and using the valuation index to measure it against, it means Bell has been valued at about pick 30 or 31 which is probably about right. He's a QLD boy so you pay a slight premium to have him return.

                        Confirmed

Gold Coast have on-traded Pick 53 to North Melbourne for Daniel Currie.

Geelong have traded Picks 49 and 53 to the Gold Coast Suns for Zac Smith.

Gold Coast have about 10 draft picks now. And Currie is an Eker Hall of Fame Legend.

People who rate Zac Smith will think this is an absolute bargain. By trading in Eker HoF legend Daniel Currie for one of those picks, it says a lot about how little Zac Smith is rated by the Suns.

The Geelong persuit for Smith baffles me..

I'm not sure where he fits in to be honest. The only spot he can play is number 1 ruck and is behind Stanley & Blitzcavs in that position imo. That's not mentioning Clark & Vardy who are more than capable of filling a ruck spot.

Even If he plays as number 1 ruck with Blitzcavs playing as a tall winger/midfielder, it's pretty much saying only 1 of Stanley, Clark & Vardy get a game. With Hawkins already at FF.

Yep, complete overkill on talls by the Cats.
