Seriously though are we a shot at getting Butters? Should have plenty of cap space and if Marra goes we should have strong picks. Don't get me too excited...

If Marra goes we won't get anything, he'd be more likely to retire than play anywhere else.

I think we're a legitimate shot, but will need to get draft capital from somewhere to satisfy Port, and will be competing with the Cats and their creative accounting for salary terms.

Learnt nothing from the Dunkley and Bailey Smith trades. We don’t need to satisfy Port at all just Butters

He's contracted until the end of 2026 so if we want him this year, we need to satisfy Port.

This Port star is contracted until the end of 2026, but Victorian clubs are already circling

Port Adelaide vice captain Zak Butters is emerging as a key domino in the upcoming trade period, with several Victorian clubs recently becoming aware of his potential availability, despite being contracted until the end of next year.

Multiple club sources have confirmed Hawthorn, Richmond, Essendon and Collingwood are all preparing to make serious plays for the 24-year-old, who grew up in Bacchus Marsh and played under-18 football for the Western Jets.

Can we get Butters and Rowell please. Thanks.

I'd be happy to wait for free agency with Butters and not that I am in the "JUH out the door camp" (I would rather keep him), but if he wants to go hopefully we can get him on the field to improve his currency (so he is not "broken" goods like Smith) and he can either be involved in a direct swap or get some of the capital we need from Sydney or whoever.

Did you know that the name "Butters" is 7 letters long. ironically so is "Bulldog"

                    Its pretty much a lock.

We could always give Hinkley a job in Barkers Café if it will help get Butters across the line.

It's Rod Butters. I hope we have ample supply of Columbia's finest if that's the case.

Nah it's Rod Butterss, so can't be.

I would prefer Leopold "Butters" Scotch.

On a bit of a tangent, I hope we are picking over Melbourne and Port's carcass and aggressively talking to Pickett for one. Ditto WC and even Richmond- there are bound to be a few young players without patience to endure years of getting pumped.

A lot to play out, but early doors looks like those four clubs are in for a long year/s.

Pickett is keen to get to WA isn't he?
