Has Bergman played wing? Has all the attributes.

Haven't watched him lately but can imagine him being a good mid. Big body, can run, courageous, defensively minded. With Treloar and Libba potentially 1-year away from retirement, it would be an astute addition.

We love the versatile types and he's certainly that. His best is yet to come too.

Specifically versatile types like Lobb and Williams who simply accept the challenges as they come and get on with it.
Wing, HBF or even as a mid seem to be in Bergmans range of positions he might offer.

Getting a former 1st round pick who will have played more than 100 games would be a coup for us.

Him and Bailey Dale starting our transition chains off half back would be a dream. Has also shown the ability to play midfield minutes but also can do a shut-down job on one of the oppo major ball winners as he did to Petracca on the weekend.

I must admit i was a bit iffy about Bergman only because of the price tag he would bring , but omg after the Kozzie deal , 800 or 900 thousand a year for say 5 years looks to be the asking price to try and pry a player of Bergmans character out of their club , so im all in , either off half back or on ball would be a great acquisition .
Also kicks the ball very well , he has depth in his kicks and they travel quickly , big advantage to any forward .

Port have offered him a big contract, so not going to be easy.

Agree Bornadog totally but nothing worth while in this world comes easily .
We have the cap space to offer above the asking price and of course the lure of teaming up with team mate Butters next year .

I love Bergman, was on him from start of the year as a trade target but I think that ship might be sailing unfortunately. With his recent form in the midfield it sounds like he wants to play midfield, and a couple of teams like Bombers & Saints who can offer him midfield time are apparently offering over a mil.

If he was keen to play backline on a not ridiculously overs contract and play finals, then hell yeah he’d be bloody perfect for us. Just not sure I can see it happening after the last few weeks, but would be a great get if we could pull it off.

He can stay at Port and get plenty of midfield time when Butters crosses to the dogs!

Latest on Suns stars’ futures as former Pick 1 tipped to shun Vic offers

Rowell at the end of last season met with Collingwood, Geelong, Essendon and Western Bulldogs, who are the only clubs still in the mix for his services.

The Victorian bought a $2 million house in Melbourne suburb Kew earlier this year, but it’s not unusual for AFL players to buy properties in other states. Chad Warner in January purchased a property in Perth suburb Applecross, before re-signing with Sydney.

Could the news that Bont is now ready to enter into discussions about his next contract indicate that the club now knows our likely salary-cap space over the next few years?

The Bergman thing is super interesting to me.

On paper, he’s a good enough player who probably still has some upside particularly based on role mix and function in the right system. He’s hitting his prime years. He’s versatile.

The allergic reaction seems to be around the price range. I don’t think we have fans have quite clocked the salary required to get deals done, and the relativity of that salary come the end of a long contract as year on year increases continue to kick in. They’re scary sums of money for most of us, however the world we live in.

Im all for it if we think he helps us become a better side (and I’m confident he does).
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

Rowell had committed for another 2 years

The trade price concerns me more than salary. I like him as a player.

Bit of a shame. Judging by Bevos comments in his presser, the two clearly had a productive meeting.

Suspect Rowell has given the Suns 2 final years to actually do something.
