The Bergman thing is super interesting to me.
On paper, he’s a good enough player who probably still has some upside particularly based on role mix and function in the right system. He’s hitting his prime years. He’s versatile.
The allergic reaction seems to be around the price range. I don’t think we have fans have quite clocked the salary required to get deals done, and the relativity of that salary come the end of a long contract as year on year increases continue to kick in. They’re scary sums of money for most of us, however the world we live in.
Im all for it if we think he helps us become a better side (and I’m confident he does).Western Bulldogs: 2016 Premiers👍 2Comment

Now that the Dogs are officially out of the race for Rowell, expect them to ramp up their pursuit for Port Adelaide’s Miles Bergman.
They also have strong interest in Zak Butters, but that’s seen as more ‘live’ for 12 months time.FFC: Established 1883
Premierships: AFL 1954, 2016 VFA - 1898,99,1900, 1908, 1913, 1919-20, 1923-24, VFL: 2014, 2016 . Champions of Victoria 1924. AFLW - 2018.👍 1Comment

I keep reading how weak this draft is, and Port will hold Zak for 2026 due to this. If they think he is gone, then get it done, get 12 months ahead of the rebuild and before Tassie. Cobined with future pick trades, why tread water for 12 months.
SA have performed really well in the Nat Champs, surely there are some prospects there they are looking at.👍 2Comment

Heard on SEN today that some are suggesting that Tasmania go after Sam Darcy when he comes out of contract in 2030, offering him $3 million per season.
We MUST make sure Darcy is a Bulldog for life - time to get get all the Bulldog supporters to start a retain Darcy fund, create a fictional company (say Cotton Off), and make Darcy the face of the "company" for as much as it takes to keep him.Footscray member since 1980.👍 1Comment

Dave Darcy would turn in his grave if Sam left , Sam's father Luke Darcy is a football director at the club so the family have been connected to the club for a long time .
Sam has stated that his grown up at this club and loves what the club stands for. No , we have the cap space , we look after Sam when his next contract comes up for renewal .
Pay him well , keep this club of ours competitive and he wont want to leave .👍 1Comment

Darcy comes from a well off family (Luke owns a number of business’ & venues from memory), is going to spend majority of his career on over a mil a season and is already just about the face of the league and will have ample off field opportunity. Think this is one we don’t have to worry too much about.
its a bit different for the guys that have been on 500-700k most of their careers and are now getting the opportunity to take ~1mil offers, especially guys that don’t exactly come from money or are sitting on a nice inheritance before their careers
its actually a massive benefit that we’ll likely have the best player in the comp and not necessarily have to pay him as such. Not suggesting we underpay him of course but I suspect he’ll be happy enough to take moderate contracts and prefer us to use the extra money to keep a competitive team around him.👍 1Comment

Didn’t we sign him for 4 years last year ? By the time he comes out of contract 2-3 mil will be normal .
Apart from the fact no one will want to go to Tassie unless they are the average AFL footballer offered overs, the dangling of captain of a new era might drag a decent one or being Tasmanian and even Sanders when asked said he regarded himself as a Melbournian.
You also know you will be copping hidings the first few years .
it’s very cold and wet in winter even with a roof I can’t see many high class players going.

For all of his many faults, Luke Darcy will simply not allow his boy to play for another club.- I'm a visionary - Only here to confirm my biases -🥰 1Comment

Bit of chatter on various other Bulldogs groups that since Rowell has re-signed with the Suns for two years we are heavily shifting our focus to Zac Bailey from Brisbane."Its always good to win the Ashes test match'' - Libba, AFL Grand Final, 2016👍 1Comment

He would be great but I'm not sure how we would pry him out of Brisbane with another year to run on his contract.👍 1Comment
