Re: ASADA issues show-cause notices to Essendon players

Half the problem for narcissists like Hird is that they surround themselves with fawning sycophants and yes-men. The worst thing he can do is be interviewed by a full-on apologist, but true to form he takes the apparently easy option, which will just give him more rope in which to hang himself.

The interviewer in Sydney has apparently been given full permission to ask whatever they want.

Jobe Watson in today's paper: "We are struggling to come to terms with this decision, and feel it does not support the players' firm belief that we are innocent."
Really Jobe? How long did it take you to work that one out? Or did James feed you that line?

If he genuinely wanted to reveal the truth he would ask to be interviewed by Caroline Wilson. Would score him a lot more credibility and give him an opportunity to argue his case against his biggest critic.

            Firmly innocent?
So why didn't they tell ASADA when they were being tested 30 timed about the injections ?
My workplace as most nowadays does random drug tests and you must reveal everything you have taken or injected or you will be sacked.
So that in itself says you all knew something was a miss.

They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I note that the list of 12 players banned at Essendon seems to be only missing Zaharakis and Dempsey from those drafted pre 2012 and still on the list.

There has been plenty of talk that Zaharakis was frightened of needles. Is anyone aware of why Dempsey is missing from the suspended group.

I work in a liquor DC in Laverton.I drive High risk forklifts Etc . So anyone nowadays who operates machinery gets random breath tests for drugs and alcohol and you must reveal everything you are taking no matter what.
So in my experience if you don't reveal what you are putting in your body you are sacked. We had a guy sacked because he refused test. Automatically you are guilty or why would you refuse ?
I completely agree to these tests as I wouldn't want someone on something driving machinery around me.

He was smart about the whole thing and just said that to avoid being on the programme. Great move.

Talk around the traps was that he was suspended internally by the club for a few weeks (under the guise of an injury) for not joining the rest of the team in the doping regime.

Exactly what you don't want in a journo! He also swaps his views depending on who he is sitting next to. Absolute buffoon that has been dragged toward a modicum of respect simply by being associated with Gerard Whateley(? Spelling) on 360.

This may have already been commented on but I cannot believe how it seems that Hird still has not been held accountable. Players are wearing the brunt of his actions and he should be banned for 10years and not the 12months he got as this was not enough for what he has caused.
                          He just keeps denying things.

I believe Dempsey and one other player had ACL injuries during that time which might be why they weren't part of the program.

Jason Winderlich. He wasn't convicted of doping either..

Couldn't agree more. Ahmed Saad got 18 months for a sports drink. By any measure c/f to that Hird has been beaten senseless with a limp lettuce leaf. He was untouchable as a player but now, in the court of public opinion, he will forever be considered as the prime driver behind one of the biggest ever drug scandals in sport.
