So our injury list lengthens and we go into the season short a player on the list.doesn’t currently look a smart decision..our midfield depth is questioned, the list looks short a ruckman as backup. Will be tough questions asked of senior coach and ist manager if we get a slow start

Yikes. Season over before it even began? Time for others to show what they're made of. No excuses for Garcia and others who have been starved off opportunity the last few seasons.

What the hell did we do at the training camp up North. Maybe stick to running on grass next off season

I'm assuming a different type of running program initiated has impacted and not for the better.
And now the Bont, another who has had zero soft tissue issues previously. Surely questions now need to be asked.

The last time it was this bad was 2016. That's about the only good thing I can say about it
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.

Yeah, I'd be asking questions of our fitness staff now. Not later, not once the season is over, now.

Jones at his age is always a chance, Treloar has been dicey for a few years, while I expect JJ to break down.

It's the rest that worry me.

Yeh it's not a good look. Can't remember his name but we got in the former GWS fitness guy after the 2023 season. Worked well last year as we were generally fit throughout the season and I'm guessing he has pushed the boys again. Bad luck is always a factor but when there are mass soft tissue injuries it's normally a sign of working a touch too hard. On the counter remember how bad we faded out in games in 2022 and 2023, that West Coast home loss to essentially play finals was the worst. Up at three quarter time and lost after getting overrun in the last. Maybe we just have to suck up these injuries for an overall fitter squad later in the year?

The Kennedy pick up seems even more important now and bring in Hynes and have a look at him early.

Throwing Macrae and Daniel away for virtually nothing will bite us hard now. The Kennedy pickup was always a sideways move. Wouldn't make us better but added depth. It will now be time for the young crop to get their time a little earlier than expected. It's going to be a tough season to get through.

Watched Macrea yesterday and even though he got plenty of the ball , zero hurt factor , and got caught more times then usual , Kennedy has better disposal , and a reliable shot at goal , i think we come out on top there.

More's the pity both our backline and midfield hinge significantly on these blokes being fit given the dearth of competent understudies.

When you have Darcy, JUH and Croft all coming to us with priority access then your ability to draft midfield quality is going to suffer a bit. Losing Dunkley (some genius around here said to trade him at the top of his value while in contract) and Smith (ungrateful so and so would be in our starting rotation if he was around) hasn't helped.

As for our defenders, we've been plugging holes there for a while and I'm not sure the expectations on Busslinger at this point of his career are realistic. That we've not solved this properly is probably my main criticism of Power's list management over the years, given we had Lobb turn out as truly competent down there as a means to try and keep him in a career.

This is where I take issue with the commentary about our list being "stacked". Outside of tall forward cattle everything else is tenuous and extremely dependent on things going really close to plan.

We got Kennedy for Macrae, and pick 25 for Daniel which is wellllll overs. Definitely not virtually nothing, both still look like good moves for our list into the future

If the personnel isn't there it isn't there. As long as we rock up, play to the best of our ability and effort, then whatever will be will be. I'm looking forward to seeing how it all pans out.

For our needs I think moving on Jack and Daniel was the right thing to do, we needed a freshen up (although for his health I'd have retired Libba and asked Jack to play the inside role). Reckon Kennedy will prove himself to be a sound acquisition. Tenth in the B&F last year and awarded Best Clubman at Carlton.
