We've had some bad investments in recent times, but this would take the cake if Marra's season goes down the gurgler. We've spent a number one pick, the captain's given him more time than any other (or so it seems), on field he was given the keys to the forward 50 last year, one of the most targeted players in the AFL, Naughton changed his game to make that possible, $2m contract.

I know there's a lot of angles here and fair enough to anyone who would prefer to prioritise consideration for the welfare of the player, but just from a Club perspective, it's a disaster. More so than Smith or Dunkley and there is 0% chance we do better out of any trade at the end of the season than we did in those cases. History shows it's easier to mend a knee than a brain.

Fantastic post. To me Marra is coming across as self absorbed but his welfare is of course the priority. Who knows if we can turn this around but our history isn't compelling.
It's all up to Marra and we have to just wait and see how this plays out.

Would much prefer we hold onto him and hopefully are able to turn things around with Jamarra, however if things become impossible, we must turn him into Matt Rowell or Zac Butters, both linked to the club as possible targets, i'm sure both Port and Suns would love a JUH running around in their forward lines, plus not having to deal with the likes of the Cats, Bombers, Hawks etc and having to accept less because they finish high up on the ladder, especially the Hawks and Cats.

We don't shop at stores that sell those level players.

I am really over all the media scrutiny as, if he does run out with us later in the season, it will only INTENSIFY. His every move will be put under the ELECTRON microscope..

Annoying how the news cycle is already into stories about comments made by other journalists on tv discussing the previous story on the issue.

Really, nothing has changed. It is a worry that he’s not fully back in the fold, but we are all in wait and see mode. Doesn’t make for clock bait.

Remove the "L" and I'm sure there's a joke in there about what all the journos can do as far as I'm concerned.

Trade based on potential, not history. Always gets you a better deal.

The players have a bit to much say nowadays. They tend to get to the club that they nominate.

It's just a job for some of these players, us fans get invested to much into the program which ends up back firing emotionally.

Really want JUH to get back and play great footy with us & I’m going to hold onto hope for that until it’s just not an option.

That being said, it was hard last night to not feel let down by him and whatever is happening there. How can a footballer not want to be part of that? Imagine how good it must have felt to be Joel Freijah kicking that goal and celebrating in front of 78k rabid fans.

Not playing, fair enough. Still fully disengaged and out with mates on social media, not feeling quite as empathetic about that.

I’m usually downplaying the bullshit about what he’s doing outside of the game. AFL players these days need to disengage, I know we’d all love them to be but they’re just not footy tragics and nuffys like us supporters it is what it is.

But very disappointed in such a big game for the club, in Melbourne in front of 80k people, that he’s not there sitting with his teammates supporting the boys.

If last night is not something you want to be apart of even if you can’t make it out on the ground, then as far as Im concerned you have zero interest in being apart of this club.

I saw his post, maybe that was after the game? I’m not sure but I hope he was there, if not - well I’m getting close to saying good riddance, even as badly as I want him back in the side

He shared it about 9.30pm, but not sure how old the original post was. My initial reaction was very similar.

If his dodgy mates are more important than his TEAM mates I'm done with him. Was told pre Xmas that he wanted out anyway. Somehow turn him into Butters or Rowell and he's someone else's problem. Pick him in the VFL next week otherwise withhold his "spending" money.
