I agree that he should be better suited to playing forward but we still might use him as a defender for another season until he adds some muscle to that frame.

Personally I'd say he lacks mobility and any key forward should be able to burn him on the lead. If we need to send a spare man back though I'd back him in for that role

Really excited about Croft in defence, he is an athlete much better suited than Darcy will ever be.

If Darcy plays back he is not there to defend.
He could be a great interceptor but lacks the mobility to defend an opponent of any type.

Could that just be because he's 18/19? Is there no hope that he develops/improves this?

Does Darcy have the quickness to be a good long term defender? Seems to be a more natural forward but he could still play a role in the back line with the right match-ups.

Jordan Roughead was pretty effective in the role. Is Darcy quicker than him?

Keath isn't particularly quick to my eye. I'm sure there are plenty of other KPD who aren't that quick.

If you're clever with your positioning and body you don't necessarily need to be quick.

                          Re: Father/Son Watch

I think Keath has ok pace, but he has that little steps running style so maybe it's an illusion.

I'm a fan of playing Darcy back, in part because it's gonna be such a slog playing him forward as I don't think he is able to get involved unless he is marking it and it's too early to expect him to do that.

He is slow but he is stupid tall and a good mark, and good distributor, and we play a zone defence anyway so not sure how frequently he is going to get proper exposed for pace.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

                            Re: Father/Son Watch

You’d assume Power and Bevo were clean with Croft exactly what the next few years look like for him. You assume he’ll be mostly VFL next season, maybe 1-2 games late at most, and potentially develop as a defender.

Croft considering his options would’ve all been about “where do I fit in”.

Croft says he can play next year!

I like his confidence, but no.

We are talking Bevo here , he loves a surprise, look at O’Donnell . Knowing Bevo he could play Croft first game .
