Interesting chatter from a Hawks fan at work.

Suggests the link between Isaac Smith and the Bulldogs is real, Hawks looking to free up cap space as Patton is 'over the line' and they're chasing both Coniglio (as per media reports) and Brad Hill quite hard.

How do we feel about Isaac Smith? Gut feel is it's a 2 year deal, with perhaps trigger for a third. He's instantly best 22 for us.

I'd prefer Conglio, Patton or Hill.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

        Would prefer Brad Hill

I'd be open to Smith but not with any pick inside the 1st 2 rounds. If it's a salary cap dump deal then I'd be pushing for either a late token pick or a pick swap such as our 3rd round this year for their 3rd round next year. That helps them with a pick this year to secure their deals & helps us with points next year for JUH.

How do we sit in an aggressive strategy, having said bye to Picko & Boyd, telling premiership players Morris, Dicko, Roberts & Suckling to find something else to. Along with saying enough injuries Webb, you find something else to do. And maybe accepting or at least be open to trading out a Bailey or two (not Smith)?

Would the fan base accept to such a almost ruthless approach that says reminiscing about 2016 is for premiership reunions, we are aggressively going about building to the next premiership?

Some teams have done it recently, Hawks, Freo, Brisbane, Richmond etc, to varying degrees of success.

Morris would be the only contentious one out of that lot and may well depend on how he fares during the remainder of the year.

That does seem to be the case, I think we will once again try and draft/trade for more than 1 player of Aboriginal/TSI background this year. Similarly to what we did the year we picked up Josh Hill, Brenna Stack, Malcolm Lynch and Jarrod Harbrow all in the same year.
If we can get Martin and AMT that might be a start with possible future picks coming from the Academy.

                BTW
We picked Everitt with pick 11, Melbourne got Frawley with 12, Richmond Riewolt 13.
Either of those picks could of solved a key position problem for us for many years to come, oh well.

The wing opposite Hunter? It's been a revolving door this season with nobody able to really claim it.

You can't see that we need a skillful outside runner like Smith? Fair enough if you think Smith isn't the right player but we definitely could use a player like Smith. Brad Hill is a player like Smith and most would be happy to have him for the right price.

We could have snagged Karl Amon last year for very little.
He's having a much better year this year who can play that role as well. I do think we need one fast outside type. Hunter doesn't always get the praise he deserves but he's more defensive than attacking these days.

I think Smith's days are numbered, he is not as good as he has been in the past, so yes it is Smith himself.

Geez BAD, it sounds like you're planning on shooting him or something.

Smith has a few years left in him and we could use his type. We need players who can kick the ball to somebody wearing the same jumper..

Mitch Cleary on AFEL.com.au has done a long analysis this morning in potential trade targets as to the salary and draft pick/s needed to grab them from another club. It's a long read so broken down, so as it relates to my long post the others day, he agrees on the salaries and draft pick required to secure Brad Hill, Adam Tomlinson, AMT & Jack Martin. So from Cleary's opinion, we are within our ability to aggressively go after any/all them.

On our potential outs, Clearly has Williams as a mid-late second rounder ($350,000+), and Dale as a mid-late third rounder ($250,000+).
