Speed is interesting. A very trustworthy member highlighted lack of speed last year as a big issue for Darcy. Also, with Jamarra, Schache, Naughton & Bruce with English - I wonder if ‘tall defender’ is his best chance to get F/S by us. As far as I knew pre-COVID he was a forward who did a few minutes in the ruck. Necessity is the mother of innovation.

I'm guessing his ties with us has meant he's been told it's in his best interests to become a defender. He wouldn't want to play 2nds as a tall forward. Come good as a defender and he can slot in for years.

With young Darcy showing a bit, it just adds another footy match to my weekend viewing schedule. Sigh.

            Kolyniuk seems consistent.

Mid Season Draft: 2 June, 2021

Do Raak &/or Macca nominate? Otherwise stated, can they do enough in 6 weeks for us to make any promises?

I watched the Chargers game and whilst Darcy was solid, I’m not sure how they gave him BOG when Nick Daicos has 40 and kicked 2 goals!

Raak plays like Jordan Ridley, had 33 touches and 9 marks across half back yesterday. I think we missed an opportunity not opening up a spot as a Cat B. He’s a huge chance to be taken at the MSD.

I wonder if we can convince him to sit it out. Then if he gets passed pick 20 in the ND, he’s ours for draft points.

I wouldn’t call it tampering, but most MSD picks have failed and his development is better where he is and with some games at Footscray rather than 3 months of VFL. I’d be wanting to play for us right now if I had a choice.

Maybe, but I also wouldn’t blame him for taking his chance at the MSD given we had the chance to take him and picked Scott instead.

I wouldn’t blame him in the slightest. The benefit is he gets two years at a minimum near home/family if we promise to draft him if he sits it out. Assuming by the end of May we want to do that. Just being greedy about things.

APS dominates from now. Non-private school kids are at a distinct disadvantage. It was a weird shake-up from the AFL that nobody is happy with.

Could Darcy end up a Roughead type FB? You can still make it as a defender if you are smart and can cut angles (Sid was very slow too but did jobs for us when it mattered)

After 3 games, Cody Raak is averaging 163 SuperCoach points per game, #1 in NAB League (Daicos is averaging 162).
