He hasn't really been more than serviceable at VFL and is not really KP size for the modem game.
I took this point up with, I think it was Comrade whose been watching the games. He said the dominance is from his footy IQ and superior skill and not from being bigger/stronger. So I take that onboard. A kid who missed a year of footy not dominating his first few games against men isn’t entirely unsurprising. I think he’s learning a lot backing up very good footy game to game in the junior stuff, while learning about the jump to playing against men. Last I saw he was 192cm and I’d expected 1-2 more cm’s. That’s not too a bad size, Buku is 190cm as a comparison.

He hasn't translated his NAB League form to VFL level, though there has been a few flashes of his talent. He'd be a really good rookie candidate and would be a shame if we missed out on him, but not the end of the world. It's not like half back is a real area of need though I really like his size.

So a top 20 pick would be overpaying, but somewhere after 40 might be ok?

Yeah, I'd be ok with that as it currently stands.

I’m reading the finer points of the NGA restructure. Past pick 41 teams can use their next selection. On today’s numbers, a bid on Raak at 41+ we have Pick 74. So that’s what he would cost getting to 40+.

Assuming he doesn’t nominate or get picked up on the MSD.

Sam Darcy kicked another 4 goals as forward/ruck in a Scotch win.

Was in Kellett’s year. Neither selected. Kobi & Cooper West are completely unsighted too this year.

Cal Twomey was at the Scotch game on the weekend and was pretty effusive in his praise for Sam Darcy. His thoughts can be found here: https://twitter.com/AFL/status/1394211223713902592?s=20

Basically, thinks he's well within top 10 range and could go even earlier.

He needs to be silenced. He’s killing us with this stuff.

Plus he’s killing you, as it’s up to you BT to tell Sam Power and Co how we get enough points to draft him.

My other concern is if Darcy does go top ten that is two years running we have not been active participants in the draft.

Wouldn't take too much out of it. Darcy is a big kid and can get noticed easily by the likes of Twomey for that alone, meaning you remember everything they did, where as a mid you might only realise half the stuff they do live. Would be surprised if he's considered top 30 at this stage but if he continues to improve over the season, then I'm all for it.

Yeah, Darcy is probably the biggest kid in every school footy game he plays and can use his height and size to overpower other kids. It's also a much lower standard than NAB League where he's been ok, but not dominant by any metric.

I do hope he gets picked in the Metro side for the champs and we see him up against the best in the country, that will tell us plenty.

‘IF’ that happened, we’d have picked up the best KPP each year in the top 10, well above our natural pick. Great problem to have. 17 clubs would love that. ‘IF’. Maybe they change the FS rules in response to us too.

I agree with your sentiment though, we should be taking Darcy and at least two more kids in addition to upgrading Sweet & Khamis.
