    Re: 2022 Draft Watch

Why does the AFL only show the top 3 in each category? I have never understood it? Why can't all the result be public.

I do like the sound of Hollands, has anyone watched him closely?

He ticks a lot of boxes in terms of fulfilling a need. Elite speed, goal sense and pressure means he could have an immediate impact, and he's Port Melbourne Colt too! They're usually bred tough down there.

He's a competitor who brings elite running capacity as shown by his 3km time trial. He plays as a genuine mid but you wonder whether that will translate into AFL level. I can see him becoming an elite wingman in the Sidebottom / Langdon mould. His kicking skills are tidy but not elite. He tends to go about 50% kick/handball ratio which would suit our style.

He has the ability to come in and play a role Day 1, especially as we appear to have a need for a quality wingman.

He's very good at everything and is a safe pick, as opposed to some more speculative picks who have larger upside but greater risk.

Even though I quite like Konstanty, I think he's a bit wasteful with his disposal around the grounds and in front of goal. He does have some special attributes though. Has an uncanny ability to find space and is quite a strong mark. I've seen him take one grab marks at full pace on the lead with someone hanging off him. I love his tackling and pressure also. He sticks a lot of his tackles and he averages around 6 at NAB league level. I would be happy if we did take him.
I've been really impressed with Jacob Ryan, gets a lot of the footy and is a good user of the ball. Can play across half back and in the midfield.

mjp have you seen much of Jasper Scaife over in WA? I know he's tied to Fremantle through the NGA but he looks an interesting prospect.

                    He's tall!

He's alright. Missed the finals due to injury and prob would have been the difference (WP lost by 2 points in the GF). I don't know - for us with Darcy and Jamarra already as developing forwards I would have thought he was LOW on our list.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Remember, these kids missed a LOT of footy over the past two seasons (the Victorian boys in particular) so they are going to be a bit behind...that's OK. They'll be fine. .
This is why we shouldn't be handing over too many picks.

In 5-6 years time there could be a few gems taken in the 30's, 40's and later and people will ask how did X player slip that far.

I do have concerns we won't have the list spots to take advantage of picks in that range though.
Some reports have us giving Stef Martin a 1 year extension.

It would be far better for us to target a position (e.g. small forward) with a 3rd or 4th round pick and rookie a state league ruck for depth than it would to sign Stef and lose that list spot.

Just watching the U18 champs final atm, how I would love Humphrey in our forward line next year. That kid is a ball of energy, he is unlike any player on our list exactly the type we need I reckon.

Coby Burgiel has some wheels, looks a neat enough kick wonder If he could be an option at pick 21 for a small forward that obviously has some mid potential also.
