All being equal I'd take a crumbing forward, a defender who can defend (at any size) or a wingman over a mid, marking forward or ruck with our early picks.

Obviously if the defender is smaller they'll need something else elite to justify an early pick but those are the major gaps on our list that justify a top 20ish selection IMO

Depending if some of the more higher ranked players slide on draft night I wouldn't mind us picking Alwyn Davey Jnr who could be an exciting midfielder forward. I don't think he has nominated as a father son pick for Essendon yet.
      Nahhhh. pick 21!

Best available pick 11 (we could be hoping Bailey Humphrey slips as a forward/mid, I like Weddle as a Dale Morris type who can kick).
Pick 21 apparently we're into Charlie Clarke who probably plays as a stay at home small forward at AFL level (bit of mid as a junior). Likes to tackle.

The romantic in me wouldn't mind us looking at Jason Gilbee with our pick 39 (likely to slide up a bit after bids) - tall wingman with a wonderful surname. Not sure this is a great draft for tall defenders who actually play as KPDs - Weddle would be more a mid-sized defender although he played KPD as a junior. Busslinger plays more intercept, Hayes projects as a pure KPD but doesn't seem as quick as KPD kids in other years, Van Es is a late projection KPD who had a poor champs by all accounts.

Alwyn Davey Jnr has his fans, has a twin brother apparently who did his ACL who could be a brave rookie punt. Brayden George also did his ACL IIRC so could be a brave pick up for a kid who projected much higher in the draft pre-ACL.

Edward Allen seems to move well on the field, tested very well at the combine.
Draft watchers don't seem to rank him that highly though. 2 more games and he'd be FS eligible for Hawthorn.

Any chance we trade 11 and 21 to get an earlier pick, or not worth it

Are we the back in the same position as in 2021/2020 of drafting one really good kid and potentially not much else.

Really think this is the year to spread the love if anything (though maybe more list spots next year)

If anything I'd like to find a way to upgrade our other picks somehow

Agreed, after having to spend all our draft capital on 2 top end talents the past 2 years I would rather bring in 2 or 3 reasonably highly rated kids this year rather than put all our eggs* in 1 basket again.

*Pleased I could work an egg reference in there.

Power traded out their draft hand to get JHF.

I'm very wary of trading up a few spots to grab a player. We all wanted to trade up pick 4 to pick and grab Boyd - that Marcus bloke we took at pick 4 has turned out ok.

And there were Woofers disappointed we didn't get James Aish or Matthew Scharenberg at the time.

Gee Adelaide really sold the farm.

Not sure about that considering their current profile.

Zerohanger has us taking Hollands. Not bad, I'd prefer Phillipou if he's there though.

I'd have Phillipou clearly ahead of Hollands and I rate Hollands
I don't believe he has yet nominated as a father son so the door is ajar but Alwyn Davey Jnr appeals to me as well and Bailey Humphrey if he were to slide down the order would be hard to pass on.
